Yes my Emory DC, got back office as a health major with a 3.1. Only the schools listed could do that. Tufts, Gatech and the rest need higher GPAs and econ/business to do the same. |
Texh and Engineering doesn't care about prestige |
Hence, Ranked #6 and #9 per capita for Tech placement. https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-tech Ranked #14 and #12 per capita for Engineering placement. https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-engineering You bet. |
It’s a sad reality. It’s a good thing. Is there lots of different different careers. The bad thing is if your kid is set on working on Wall Street and is at Georgia Tech or Penn State or Ohio State, it’s not going to happen. Frankly, it’s even hard from IU Kelly. I know we don’t want to over helicopter, but the best thing to do would be to take a look at who recruits from your kid’s school, mine your network, get your kid, a great lower tier /lower middle market or boutique IB/asset management (unpaid) internship after freshman year so they have real skills and can use that network to leapfrog other people from their school. and if your kid has high aptitude and is a great student, and is committed to Wall Street but didn’t luck out in the lottery that is college admission, definitely consider transferring to a T20 school |
Maybe. They definitely care about smart kids. |
Definitely- Middlebury is a huge feeder. As is Colgate. |
Tech is dying anyway. |
Big Tech will start to care about prestige like Finance does as the tech competition gets tougher. The tech placement lists will look like the finance placement lists in about 10 years. |
Which bank? |
Yikes. Back office with an Emory degree? Where? In southeast? |
A health major! And NYC |
Sure, prestige in CS/Engineering like NYU, UVA, BC etc. are considered prestige in Finance |
Don't tell that to OpenAI, Anthropic and the hundreds of AI companies raking in the VC money right now. |
AI is why tech jobs will be dead. |
