Yes that's how double albums work!

No it actually might not work like that. Taylor loves to release multiple versions of her albums, each version maybe containing extra songs the others don’t. I think it’s very possible because this was a surprise second album that TTPD is one cd, and you have to buy the second surprise one (Anthology) separately. It was never billed and sold as a double album.

This. She’s going to double her first week of sales because everyone who pre-ordered the album will have to buy it again to get the Anthology version.

So now she’s ripping off her fans.

I appreciate that Taylor Swift is a great business woman who has created this image around herself. I do think she is taking advantage of her fans, many of whom are young, by surprising them with a second album. She knows they’ll buy it but it seems greedy.

You guys are entitled aholes.
She doesn’t owe you a free album.
She wrote two albums. If she releases them together, that’s a gift, and you aren’t owed that.

Not that poster, but aren't we talking about a bunch of kids when we say her fans? That's who is going to rebuy. All the adult music listeners just stream on Spotify and don't go order and buy. She's definitely a big capitalist product as much as an artist this point. Her dad is a fierce businessman as well.

So what? No one was handing out free additional albums of new music at Tower records back in the day either.
What? She’s a woman so she has to give her gift for free? Won’t someone think of the children?!?!?!
F that.

Seriously we had to buy the album and the cassette then the CD.

I didn't even know people bought albums ... thats news to me.

You are missing the point: an album came out, these kids bought it, then hours later she released with the anthology part, so they bought again. It is twice the sales it would be had she released all at once, which she could have done. It was absolutely a choice based on generating max money. It’s not a gift she shares, it’s a product people pay for.

Exactly. It’s a product you aren’t entitled to or owed. Not missing the point..

You don't understand online buying.

You can cancel one order and get another one, just like that.

Even the album’s title is cringe inducing. “Tortured Poets Department?” Could it be anymore cliche and derivative? Nope. (I suppose her fans would say she was going for sarcasm and irony, lol.)

Good god, she’s vapid and uncreative.

Why would any adult like this mediocre, untalented woman?!?! She’s a performer who can’t even dance.

I disagree, I think she's at the point she doesn't edit herself for great quality anymore. She thinks her fans just want it all and will love it all even if it's okay only, which isn't wrong.

This is a woman who can put down a song in 20 minutes. I think she has so much material for songs that she continuously writes them as both an emotional purge and to share her life with fans...and that's precisely why she has such a large following. I mean didn't she say she would just have to put out better music when Reputation didn't get any nominations?

Several artists drop multiple versions of the same album to drive up sales. Fans know Swift does this and are choosing to buy every copy.

And these aren’t even same versions of the same album. They are 2 different sets of songs.
But somehow the “children” are entitled to a free album? Make it make sense.

She also says she's a functional alcoholic which some clocked.

Citation for the bolded, please?

in so long London, she says “ you sacrifice us to the gods of your bluest days” there's some other throwaway lines but that's the one I remember.

Good grief. That doesn't mean he "suffers from major depression." Please stop putting garbage out into the world.

Why does it bother you he suffers from depression

Nice gaslighting. You have yet to provide a credible citation stating this. All you’ve got is a song lyric that doesn’t mean what you think it does. Get a grip.

Interesting. I mean vapid and uncreative isn't what Id use to describe 14 Grammy awards and 52 nominations.

Critics have gone back and reappraised Reputation. Most seem to think it’s held up better than expected.

Honestly this strategy is probably the only thing keeping physical media alive.

Take it to another thread about some “indie album that much cooler” than hers. 😉
