I get triggered when people say that all of an artist's songs sound the same, but... I'm struggling to differentiate the energy of ttpd songs because they're really... similar. I'm an old school fan and will force myself to love this album. But I was secretly hoping for more distinctive hits that you want to dance to

I felt the same way. The midnight drop of songs were mostly produced by Jack Antanoff, and they all sort of blended together. I preferred the Anthology tracks, which were mostly produced by Aaron Dessner, but that was probably because they had more of a Folklore vibe.

Definitely not one of her dancier albums. The album name is fitting. This is more likely to be loved by folklore and evermore Swifties.

Taylor Swift is a good song writer and singer. But not by all means a GREAT writer or singer. She hit the market at the right time with social media, etc. her parents were a stock broker and a mutual fund manager. So she came from money and parents who had great connections to marketing and THEY have all done a great job creating a super star who does not appear to be a diva.

I hope she and Travis make it as a couple. After awhile if you can’t keep a relationship going then it’s not them, it’s you.

I don't think most of the songs are good at all, but her fans eat it all up no matter what. I like How did it End? the best because some of the melody is gorgeous. Cassandra has some similarities with Seven, my favorite song by her with Cardigan. I doubt she can ever top Folklore.

People might not love her but she is undeniably a poet and thoroughly pours her heart into her songs. 31 songs is pretty impressive for any artist.

Yes that's how double albums work!

No it actually might not work like that. Taylor loves to release multiple versions of her albums, each version maybe containing extra songs the others don’t. I think it’s very possible because this was a surprise second album that TTPD is one cd, and you have to buy the second surprise one (Anthology) separately. It was never billed and sold as a double album.

This. She’s going to double her first week of sales because everyone who pre-ordered the album will have to buy it again to get the Anthology version.

So now she’s ripping off her fans.

+1

I appreciate that Taylor Swift is a great business woman who has created this image around herself. I do think she is taking advantage of her fans, many of whom are young, by surprising them with a second album. She knows they’ll buy it but it seems greedy.

You guys are entitled aholes.
She doesn’t owe you a free album.
She wrote two albums. If she releases them together, that’s a gift, and you aren’t owed that.

I disagree, I think she's at the point she doesn't edit herself for great quality anymore. She thinks her fans just want it all and will love it all even if it's okay only, which isn't wrong.

Not that poster, but aren't we talking about a bunch of kids when we say her fans? That's who is going to rebuy. All the adult music listeners just stream on Spotify and don't go order and buy. She's definitely a big capitalist product as much as an artist this point. Her dad is a fierce businessman as well.

So what? No one was handing out free additional albums of new music at Tower records back in the day either.
What? She’s a woman so she has to give her gift for free? Won’t someone think of the children?!?!?!
F that.
