| This is the dumbest thing in a long line of dumb things the DC Council has done. |
+1, just like in DC, Oregonians rapidly realized that legalizing drugs and removing enforcement even for still-illegal drugs, without having an aggressive framework in place to address the inevitable problems this would create, was idiotic. I only hope DC can do what Oregon has done and roll it back; this development does not fill me with confidence. |
Has DC done anything like that for them to roll back? Seems like we are talking about marijuana dispensaries. |
| Maybe we need a ballot initiative to re-criminalize it. |
That would be racist. |
Nah. |
It would have a disproportionate impact on BIPOC. It's illegal to recriminalize it at this point. |
The first "control" would be (like liquor stores), you can't open across from a school. That's why this is so crazy. Even people who want the most open drug laws agree that this is not a good idea (for example, the owner opening this dispensary, who would not want a dispensary open across from his own kid's school). |
How is it illegal to recriminalize it? |

I'll take liberal myths for $100. Do you even live here? You have to do something pretty bad before the DC police will even begin to consider to maybe sort of give a shit. If you were getting charged with marijuana possession, it was probably because the cops were already arresting you for murder or assault or some other violent crime and just threw the pot charges on top. |
| You don’t understand, I MUST light up and show how cool I am RIGHT AFTER stepping out the dispensary and flex on all the school-aged kids….. |
I'll take "not a lawyer for $500, Alex." |
TIL only lawyers can detect racism. |
No, but only lawyers can use this as a legal argument in a court of law when challenging such a law. |
