The sixx cool moms group on fb…

I’m in the group and have attended some events. There are prob 3-6 events a month…many are actually tied to a charity. I’ve only been to 2 events I think, but from my perspective it’s more of a pop culture, let’s get-together and have fun without our kids, and talk openly about motherhood group than a moms group that’s all open recommendations with little moderation.

The business recommendations are the same as a lot of other groups. She charges for advertising and promotes people who pay her to advertise. People don’t like it in other groups either but it’s the way the internet works. Thousands of people make a living doing this.

She’s harmless. I don’t like everything she posts but some stuff I do. She runs a fun group and the people I’ve met at events including her are all nice and welcoming. I’m really not sure why there is so much anger towards her….sure she posts some cringe content but so does every other influencer out there.

The difference is she presents paid advertisements as a 'Sixx Cool Moms Approved Business' personal recommendation without disclosing that it is a paid advertisement. The one time I saw someone ask if they just need to pay the advertising fee to become an approved business, she deleted the comment.

This is the issue. The only thing they do to be “approved” is pay. That’s it. So the recommendation is based purely on the fact that this company paid her. Absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the product/service.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about transparency in where the money is going that is paid for the events (and anything else). In the NOVA group, I’ve noticed the admin asks for payments to be sent to her LLC where she is a personal assistant- doesn’t seem to have anything to do with a job at six cool moms. Is that a legit business practice/setup to collect fees for one business under a different business name? Just an observation which makes me feel a little shifty about paying 20-50 bucks for an event.

Old thread but word to the wise- this a business for her and nothing more. Which seems very apparent after some time but at first, if you're new to MoCo or a new mom it seems like it's a way to make friends and ask for recommendations.

The paid recommendations are OBNOXIOUS. She constantly recommends a lady that does hair (she seems like a nice person but not skilled) the hair looks like a hot ass mess. Limp, tired, flat. The worst pictures. Terrible styling. I'm looking at all these pics thinking ...what am I missing? Why is this being recommended?

I went to one of the events, I paid $100. Before I paid I went on the IG and looked at the same event from a previous month. They had sushi and refreshments served. I based my choice to attend on the fact that there would be nice food and drinks so at least that explained some of the price point.

When I got there she explained to the group that the Uber eats driver had stolen the food order. We went on with the event with no food. She said that there was bottled water "somewhere" which belonged to the business owner that we could have. Never pointed out where or offered it to anyone. Towards the end of the event cold pizza was produced. She did not offer to partially reimburse anyone or give a future credit to another event. Nothing. This is not what was described when selling the event. I was so hungry and thirsty by the time I left, to have spent $100 on some half-assed event. I understand that shit happens, but it was so incredibly unprofessional for this to be her business.

It wasn't until I was in the group for a couple months that I even realized every single event is ticketed. If she really cared about mom's and her community, she would say hey- we were all meeting up here for a happy hour, or we are all meeting up here for coffee and let everyone enjoy. But she makes it a ticketed event so that she gets a slice.

Just wanted to share my experience in case someone is naive and thinking they're going to make a bunch of friends or have an organic friendly experience. It's a business and not a good one.

There was probably never an uber order or she would have had it replaced.

I know exactly who you are talking about re:hair. First of all, her “private home studio” is a den in her personal apartment in a very shady apartment complex that smells like all the food her neighbors are currently cooking. She washes your hair in the same sink used for food prep. No. awful. So many better places to go. She just keeps recommending her because the woman pays to be approved and because the owner of the group gets free haircuts/coloring from her. She uses people for her own benefit. I left the group a couple months ago. Personally I think she is a completely fake person and cares about herself and herself only.

omg “the uber driver stole the food” I am sorry that is something she needed to fix. You don’t get to say you are a business owner and then not act like one when a problem arises. Absolutely unacceptable and I would have demanded a refund and called her out in the group.

That being said I would put my money on there was never an uber order-she just pocketed all the money.

Could you still make friends with the other moms who were there?

So the structure of the event was mingle and socialize while eating and drinking. Since the eating and drinking didn't happen it dove straight into the event which was a quiet demonstration type thing. She said we would have social/mingling at the end but the event went long (way too long) and there basically no talking to one another. A few people left early.

And not a single person pushed back on a refund because it wasn’t worth $100 without food and drinks?

Not that I saw. Everyone seemed pretty chill about it. I am an introvert and I chalked it up to a lesson learned. Jen was on her phone the whole time. Not even socializing herself.

It doesn’t matter the appropriateness level of the actual business to the recommendation. It’s so ridiculous at this point. People ask for a dentist and she recommends the one that pays her that of course, doesn’t take insurance. Because definitely most moms are able to go to a dentist that doesn’t accept insurance when so many do.

It’s always been my experience that the reason people ask for recommendations on these groups is because they want an actual place that other parents have used and loved. When it’s financial based-it’s biased and takes away from that 100%.

I already left the group but man-there also seemed to be some drama with the owner of the group and others. She seems really volatile when she is confronted about something? Her reactions just seem over the top.

Anyway I do think she started with good intentions but the group just seems all about money at this point.

Most good health providers don't accept insurance , none of our doctors except dermatologist accept insurance and the derm office is a billing disaster

The entire staff of the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics would like a word.
