Has Harvard turned a corner?

+1. She is concerned that harvard won't implement the task force's suggestions on ways to combat antisemitism. I'm an alum and am no longer giving any money until H gets its act together.

Bloomberg ran a story on Harvard today, which is not encouraging; a professor has resigned from Harvard’s attempted damage-control over their antiSemitism:

Which state flagship? There was a kid that dropped out of the University of Alabama and wrote an OpEd for the NY Post because of the “wokeism and lunacy” at UAB.

Do these people honestly think they are fooling anybody? People in the real world understand that “wokeism” is a nonsense word invented by billionaire-funded propaganidists to distract from their ongoing attacks on American democracy, their party’s wholesale embrace of every flavor of racism, anti-gay bigotry, anti-Semitism, and Islamophobia.

It’s like the absurd political theater of using claims from Russian intelligence operatives to try to push laughable and self-owning impeachment inquiries.

None of this nonsense is fooling anyone.

"I wouldn't send my kids there now." I keep hearing this over and over. My mom literally just sent me an email how she ran into grandparents from my kids' HS who were Harvard alums--undergrad and law and said they wouldn't send their own kids there now.

Do you think this is true? Or do you think this is just something people say?

For instance, my kid has been accepted in-state to UVA, WM, etc. If he gets into Harvard RD--would people in that situation really NOT send their kids to Harvard if they had the $$? Or is it more just this hypothetical thing. I have heard people say the same about other Ivies too.

I'm an alum. Harvard is getting no more money for me. My kids and grandkids are not going there.

Just randoms yapping under the cloak of anonymity.

Harvard is still in demand - for those who can get in.

My spouse feels the same about Hopkins.

Being able to turn down Harvard, Hopkins, or other such schools is a nice problem to have.

It was never an option to begin with unless they were accepted.

Socling stay: 93% of Harvard applicants end up choosing to not enroll.

Agree. And it will happen with one of those with my kid. We are liking the in-state options/environment much better.

WHAT? That means only 7% of accepted students choose to enroll. Doubtful. Yield is high.

There’s always what older people claim is a form of “wokism” at the top universities. Same with Harvard protests on apartheid in South Africa and demands to divest in the country. It took Harvard years to do it.

I don’t care how many times people yell antisemitism to shut down people protesting. No one can watch those videos and not feel repulsion for the Israeli government.

They are trying to wipe out the Palestinian population either by blowing them up or starving them to death. And as predicted they are already making plans to build on Palestinian land.

Students are usually on the right side.
