Why would my husband need an HIV test?

Same here (but not with Kaiser).

My husband has to get it annually for his job (military) it's also required for certain visas abroad, also required for IVF. There are a tons of reasons but question is does he have a reason

My 40 year old married friend just got tested for a million things because he suddenly got very paranoid about his health after a friend died. HIV was one of them.

So, if this is about extramarital sex, i doubt he's with a man.

And nobody's called troll. So I will.

This is so absurd it reeks of virtue signaling. You can argue whatever you want but according to government. 68% of all new HIV cases are gay or bisexual men. What percent of that group makes up the US population. Even a generous demograph is at most 5% of the US population. We want to to talk internationally that is different.

Pretty sure you have to sign a consent for HIV testing

I recently got one done & do not recall signing any consent form.

Married or not - you’re suppose to get an HIV test every 6 months if you’re sexually active.

I had a doctor who was very pushy about getting an HIV test. I gathered that he once had a patient who went undiagnosed and it made him hyper vigilant about it.

it primarily effects gay men. liberals have gone overboard with the over correction. Women who get infected with HIV primarily get it from men who don’t tell them they have HIV.

stigma exists for a reason. HIV should be stigmatized. The obsession with have a stigma free society is dangerous.

I’m not as liberal as i used to be because liberals are insane.

This is ridiculous and a way for them to make money. I’ve only had them for life insurance and when I was pregnant.

Yes, it used to require special consent, but that is no longer standard of care.

Because people have one of two reactions when we tell them they're positive: they're either completely unsurprised, or they're gobsmacked.

The latter are most likely to be the "I've done my own research" types who want to argue with you about the necessity of the test but can't maintain eye contact with you long enough to learn what a T-cell is before you notice they're scrolling on their phone.

Forgive me for being grumpy. Being a post-pandemic doctor has aged me.

The DC area has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the country.

No, it's about saving patients' lives with early detection
