I don't know why people order pizza for delivery anymore

Do you eat it involuntarily?
Does someone shove it down your throat?

Don’t you ever get home from an incredibly long day and just order a pizza? It’s so nice.

We are blessed to be able to throw $30-$45 at pizza delivery every once in a while, so we do. Last week it was a night that we both worked until 6 (at home) and were tired and had been cooking all week, and this week it was last night, when we were also working a lot and the kid was sick and I (the main cook) had a huge day the next day.

I almost always have lots of salad stuff on hand. So if I am exhausted and DH is still working and our kid is hungry, I'd much rather order a pizza, make a salad, and have it show up in 20 minutes than start an hour long project. And I like to cook a lot!

If health is a concern, honestly it's not. We are all very healthy and active with perfect BMIs and 2 pieces of pizza for the adults (sometimes 1 for me) + a huge salad and however much pizza the teen wants + a huge salad is not going to hurt anyone. We do not get meat or extra cheese, and often get thin crust (which I can not replicate at home).

Wow literally no one asked about your bmi or how many slices of pizza you eat. You ok?

I have a disability and am a single mom. We get delivery fairly often.

We have 3 teen boys and our oven can’t hold the amount of pizza they’d like to eat.

I do occasionally make naan bread pizza as a side through.

I will totally go back to home pizza once kiddos are out of house. It does taste so much better!

No almonds, but always green beans on the side with pizza. Long-time DCUMers know what I'm talking about.

OMG that last thing I want to do on a Friday night after working outside the home and cooking from scratch all week is to *make* something yet again. I order out — usually pizza, from Matchbox. BTW, I prefer my homemade pizza, but the crust has to meld for 24 hours and my oven is not large enough to make two pizzas at once.

Where do you live? I may have a source for legit Detroit style.

Just got 4 pizzas early for tonight’s Super Bowl. DH got one that is the Brooklyn style meat pizza from Dominos with the cracker-like thin crust. So good.

We order local place pizza for delivery when we are on our way home from a late activity.

OP this was actually a very helpful post to me, thank you for saving me some money.

You needed a DCUM poster to tell you that it’s cheaper to make something at home than to order out/order delivery? Wow, I can’t wait for you to kiss my arse when I tell you to make coffee at home vs. Starbucks, and to clean your own house vs. getting a maid service. there’s a place near me to get an 18” pizza for 20$ so occasionally I’ll do that (pick up only, dh hates delivery so he gets it) and I’ll make a salad. I do also make pizza at home, but will buy dough from whole foods. Tried trader joes fresh dough but it’s not as good. I was considering a pizza oven but not sure I want another gadget.
