It's May. So no.

Many leagues have already selected their all star teams.

Yeah usually many all star invites are sent out by now. Anyone have a DC that is participating in the Fiesta Valor tourney?

My DC got invited to Valor's Fiesta All Star. We declined because we thought it would be more fun to stay home and watch paint dry.

What org? It doesn't sound like anyone is participating.

Loudoun Soccer is participating

For what they charge for all stars, their kids should get to play in the other, real tournament. Is someone at LS having an affair with a Valor dude? Why would any club choose the way worse, more expensive tournament?

Loudoun is doing the Valor tournament because Valor is still a part of NVA, at least according to the NVA website. Loudoun has to show support for their partner.

That’s an interesting thought. But then why are some CYA teams doing the FPYC tournament?

That seems very unfair to the Loudoun rec kids. They don't get anything out of the so-called partnership with Valor but they still don't get to play in the real All Star tournament? LS charges a LOT for all star registration and then the kids get this crap?

Is the deal, Loudoun overpays Valor for a trash tournament and Valor doesn't complain that none of their kids make NVA teams? Loudoun club leadership and Valor peolle don't care if a rec tournament sucks for rec kids. None of these yahoos care about rec soccer kids once they have their money.

I think that’s a fair assumption. NVA should really dump Valor. How many of their kids even make ECNL? Now that GFR isn’t part of NVA Loudoun pretty much fills the whole roster. NVA should consider Herndon for membership. Much better program plus they literally have the best and most established Rec All Star program in the area.

Agreed. Herndon has some legit ballers on their top teams and even on their rec teams. You can see that with them making the HS state tournament the last couple years with a bunch of underclassmen.

Herndon sent some teams to the "Fiesta" last year but all their teams are going back to FPYC for this year.

Maybe they were offended by the gross theme or maybe they were offended by the crappiness of the tournament. Agree that have a good rec program and seem to care about their rec kids unlike LS or SYA.

Agree, there is nothing in this partnership that benefits the rec players. Why should they get stuck paying for a substandard tournament with no competition to play?

LS puts together the best teams in all stars also. For them to have to play in the toilet fiesta bowl is outrageous. All because their travel program "benefits" from Valor so their rec program has to suffer? Hopefully some CYA teams will be at the fiesta toilet bowl so that Loudoun can beat the crap out of them again and again and again... like every year.

I've been told CYA is doing the Valor one. They are part of Valor, it would make no sense to send them to FPYC would it. Has anyone else been told something else by someone who works at CYA?

Herndon is already partnered with VDA.

Is your kid playing on a CYA all star team? Who told you that?

It’s possible for some CYA teams to participate in valor while others may do FPYC. It may be at the age coordinator’s discretion. If a coordinator wants an easy pathway to winning they may choose the valor tournament. CYA parents chime in… if your DC was invited to all stars post age, gender and which tournament.
