CYA All Stars - how are they chosen?

Is there anything stopping an individual coach from registering his team in FPYC?Or maybe merge teams?

In theory they could but they would probably have to pay the tournament fees. I guess they could collect that from the parents.

$600-$800 across a team of 15. Much cheaper than Loudoun charges. You might even get a better team given how Loudoun is making extra teams sometimes.

Do the Valor fees include the Sombrero medal costs?

Which tournament? FPYC or Valor?

Valor. We didn't play last year as she was playing lacrosse but after reading this thread wondering if we should pass.

Honestly it’s not a great tournament but if this is her first all stars then let her play. She sounds athletic (playing multiple sports and making all stars) and if she does well she may be a good candidate for travel. After a few rec all star tournaments we gave my DC a chance at travel and they are now loving it. Play her but keep expectations of the tournament and organizers low. But keep her hopes high.

I would pass. Its poorly run. There are better ways to spend Fathers Day weekend. They will lose all their games to Loudoun team by 15 goals.

We are playing it and enjoyed it last year. I would say to the CYA parents, give the kid the chance. Tournaments are fun for the players!

It can be fun... if it's the right tournament and the right coach! An idiot coach (that loses every season... most likely CYA) that loads his team with his kid's "friends" and a tournament that is modeled after Speedy Gonzales might make for a long hot miserable weekend. Father's Day might be better spent with a day at the pool and a couple beers. Just sayin'!
