Margaritaville in Daytona and soon in SC coast somewhere |
Lake kehowa sc ( near Clemson) |
Move in fee is $40k for 2br (non-refundable). High for a rental community. |
We just did a "tour" at their sales center. It's $10,000 move in fee for a 1BR and the amenities were very impressive. I think you need to compare this to buy-in communities where you're putting $500,000+ down like Ingleside or the new Grandview. You have to pay for the amenities somehow -- whether up front or as part of a monthly fee. My parents preferred this monthly option where your money is not locked in, but YMMV. These 50+ communities are something different. |
Heritage Hunt in Gainsville- several others in Gainesville and every where else. I’d start with deciding geographically where you want to be then look at communities in the area. I know several who are so happy they moved to a 55+ community- good luck. |
How old were they when they moved there? |
I love all the people opining on The Villages who’ve clearly never spent time there. Try being open minded and going for a visit. It is a beautiful place with people of every political persuasion, and there are more things to do that you can imagine. |
Didn't they have a MAGA golf cart parade, with some white people doing the Hitler salute? |
This is not for over 55 per se. It's similar to a CCRC. It's for 75/80+ Not everyone who hits 60 is in the same social community with everyone that age or older- there are huge generational differnces. |
Uh- I did. That is a really scary place. Completely MAGA and surreal. Do you mean there might be Democrats or progressively-minded there? Seriously, if they are there, they realized pretty quickly where they were. |
Not soon enough. |
I did the tour as well. Having experience in the field, I think the sales pitch is akin to delusions of grandeur. They’re promising stuff they will never deliver; not based on their business model. Their rents are on par with much less “fancy” places yet they are offering valet parking, chauffeured cars, 5 star chef, sommelier’s, 10 activity directors, rotating art exhibits, etc etc etc. |
There is a Margaritaville in Panama City Fl too. I toured it with my mom. It's lovely, great weather, lots to do. |
just depressing...i will never |
look, I used to think this, but we had to move ten years ago, so our roots in our new place are not as deep. i never thought i would find something like this tempting but here i am. that said, i'm fairly politically active so don't think the villages would be tenable. |
