All rec who play for Vienna in NVYLL. No guest players from outside Vienna's normal team. And yes, some club players are from Vienna. |
Not sure how you can say that was the roster of FPYC. there were no club jerseys or rosters posted. I doubt there were Maryland girls. |
IYKYK. |
Look, most of the people who post here spend a lot of time on lacrosse sidelines. The top players in the area are known quantities. The girls all know the ne another from clubs, camps, and clinics. No detective work or roster look ups required. St James tent also an indicator… |
to take the analysis one step deeper, what was the total goal differential for the top two teams? If the two teams in the finals won all their games by big margins, and their only close game was against each other, then the PP who said there were only two good teams in the 7/8 age bracket would be correct. but if most of the games were by close scores, then the PP would be incorrect. |
Here’s a hint. Tourney machine. |
According to Tourney Machine, the Great Falls and FPYC girls handed out some beat downs on everyone else. I'd say that the PP got it right there were basically two good teams! |
I am so out of the loop. How do people know who the top players are? I only know the players on DD’s team. |
PP said it well. There are some super engaged parents who watch every game and talk to their DDs regularly about lacrosse. They also talk to each other and a general agreement on the top players has emerged. All of the talk on this board about the future Capital Blue team is a summary of this groupthink. |
And as someone else said, that was the A division. There was a separate B division that would have produced even more lopsided scores had those two teams played them |
Appreciate you using the term "super-engaged" vs "obsessed". I agree and I am feeling better about myself now. There are worse things to focus on than sports and your daughter's development. |
Can I just say how impressed I am with this group this time around. Much more positive. Keep it up 28 parents |
Love this guy! |
That makes one of you. |
St James League pool/schedule looks interesting for 2028s. Local 2028 teams from clubs like Stars, Pride, and 3D Maryland (new team which had a good Fall), with multi-year club teams Cav Lax Elite, and Next Level (Spartans) (looks like 27s-28s maybe), mixing it up with high school JV (9th and 10th graders) from Meridian, Langley, and Madison, and some privates, including Holton Arms. Just a guess at this point, but the competitive balance looks like it may be better than last year's 7/8 pool at St James for the the 2028 club teams, and always good to play older girls and get experience with the strength and speed. |
