Montgomery County Council recognizes International Pronouns Day

Just 1 day, you think they would have pronouns month, so that each pronoun can have is own day.

You can move to Alabama or Mississippi, so that you can celebrate Robert E Lee day

I thought it was a thing MoCo made up because of how dumb it is.

LOL people thinking MoCo came up with this stupid name day is bringing down the property values? OMG and you think you're so smart.

No your DNA is bringing down the property value.

oohh my feelings are hurt

Not as hurt as they were when they found out there is an international pronoun day... how will you make it through the day.

how did progressives make it through the day before this announcement?

If it's 1min why even waste money/time for it? It's not like it will change anything. Honestly, these "recognize x day" are nothing but a boon for commerce, and not much else.

Go down and protest the next day.. Secretary's day is April 24th... go do your important work.

ooohh you're so witty.

Same. I love my house and my neighborhood but I really want to get out once my youngest graduated HS (freshman now). This is beyond ridiculous.

+1 When we're ready to sell, we will leave MoCo. Maybe go up to Frederick. MoCo is ridiculous. The butt of the DMV joke.

I have no issues with the lgbtq. My kid's bff is an lgbtq, but honestly, Moco has some serious issues they need to deal with. Spend time and money on those issues, not proclaiming some day that no one else cares about on that day. Does MoCo think that the world will actually recognize special pronouns that people pick for themselves on this particular day?

Why wait? Move now!

kid is in HS.

Will you snowflake melt if you move during HS?

will people who identify with their whatever pronoun need therapy if MoCo doesn't recognize this day as "International" (lol) pronoun day?

Nope will Italians need therapy if we don't have a Columbus day?

really dumb comparison, but no. Hence, why the need to name it "International Pronoun Day". So stupid.

Who is they... you think the council named the day?

So, the council didn't name the day, but they had a signing ceremony recognizing the day. And what does that do for the county? Will anything change for the "they/him/her/he/she/it/??" people?

No, the County Council had a proclamation. They typically start their sessions with the proclamations. For example, on October 10, there were proclamations recognizing World Mental Health Day and the Department of Transportation's workforce. On October 3, there were proclamations recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do you object to those too, or just to this particular proclamation?

Trying to explain reality to these hillbillies is probably useless. Can you imagine having to live next door to these new money Clampetts?

lol .. do you think old money people in Chevy Chase think "International Pronoun Day" is great?

? Do you think all POC are pro-"International Pronoun Day"? That says more about your ignorance than people who thought MoCo thought up the name for the pronoun day.

Interesting you’re not against Robert E Lee day and you assume only POC would care.

Also you still think moco created that pronoun day.

Do you wanna respond and dig your ditch deeper on your ignorance?

I think the OP complaint is about priorities. NOVA is prioritizing jobs and the economy. MoCo is prioritizing raising taxes, identity politics and unaccountable, scandal plagued government.

Some PPs think VA is better... Let me clue you to the fact that many Falls Church City Schools teachers' email signatures feature the rainbow and "why pronouns matter" links. As well, even in kindergarten they tell the kids about the LGBT movement's founders as if they are some sort of superheros.

What does that have to do with government priorities?

I personally don’t think that NOVA is necessarily universally better. But I do certainly believe that the MoCo government spends too much time on this kind of stuff and not enough time on economic development.

This is such a dumb thread. All governments do stupid stuff like this. Here's the Arlington Board's proclamation about Doreen Gentzler:
