If it's 1min why even waste money/time for it? It's not like it will change anything. Honestly, these "recognize x day" are nothing but a boon for commerce, and not much else. |
That sounds good, especially in light of all of the posts on DCUM whining that Montgomery County does nothing but kill jobs. |
Then you're objecting to something that doesn't exist. |
Not as hurt as they were when they found out there is an international pronoun day... how will you make it through the day. |
Go down and protest the next day.. Secretary's day is April 24th... go do your important work. |
New poster here - I can’t answer for the previous poster, but I object to those all of those. They’re all a pointless waste of time. If someone gave their life in service to the county (policeman, firefighter, etc.), then they should absolutely get a proclamation. All of the awareness raising proclamations only turn the proclamation process into something that nobody notices unless it’s something like pronouns. If the county really cares about these issues, they need to offer real help and mot proclamations. If they want to support mental health, they might expand crisis hotlines, sponsor public relations campaigns offering concrete advice, increase the budget for social services, etc. Give transportation workers a bonus or tax break if you really want them to feel appreciated. I imagine that space in a shelter, legal assistance, etc., would be more helpful than a proclamation. Do they have active policies for the county to hire the disabled? Job training? Job fairs? Tax incentives? Do they have clinics that offer breast exams or classes/videos that teach women how to conduct breast exams? I realize we can’t do everything as a county and hard choices need to be made. However, I think we could start by eliminating such pointless timewasters as endless proclamations that really only serve the political benefit of the council. |
Then you should contact your council members and tell them you want them to stop spending 15 minutes per week of official business on proclamations. |
Silver spring and takoma park need to be walled off. Start their own county. |
Who would clean your house, work in your restaurants, do your landscaping. I'm cool with walling it off but gurl, you can't clean your own bathroom and you know it. |
Omg, whatever would we do with cheap, undocumented, black market labor and a whole bunch of liberals whose only jobs they’ve ever had are govt jobs and community activist orgs. Start their own county. They can tax the crap out of themselves instead of everyone else. |
There is a lot to complain about in MoCo, but complaining about this is so petty that it’s amusing. Seems like a Moms for Liberty style tantrum. |
Trying to explain reality to these hillbillies is probably useless. Can you imagine having to live next door to these new money Clampetts? |
You’ve lost your mind with the idea that you might actually have to clean your own bathroom. Calm down Lady. |
It’s actually fun to get them all riled up. I’m gonna have to say three Hail Mary and two our fathers when I’m done. |
