Disappointed with Georgetown

Do people actually apply to both Georgetown and Notre Dame. These schools seem VERY different to me.

Completely different school.

And isn't that a good thing?

Depends on what the kid wants. Georgetown is unparalleled for its connections into DC. If that’s what a kid is looking to do, career-wise, Georgetown is the best.

Notre Dame is more your typical strong school with storied sports legacy.

NP. I thought ND was better than Georgetown academically, SFS aside.

ND is #20 in USNWR and Georgetown is #22. So no — ND is not necessarily better.

And what’s sad is ND has an endowment literally 20x the size of Georgetown’s.

I am more of an ND booster, but I would say they are pretty close academically. ND has more money and an nicer campus but not an urban setting. Georgetown has a better location, lacking endowment, and a campus in need of a lot of TLC. It all depends on your priorities.

Luckily, that 11% acceptance rate is closer to 6% in reality (since not in common app and scores required), so your kid won’t get in. We have maybe 1 kid a year get in from our huge Arlington public.

Newsflash: Boston college is more expensive.

LOL. Also, it was 13% last year. But .. you can translate that to whatever you need to in your mind.

Most people do. But this is DCUM and Georgetown is strong regionally.

Georgetown is respected nationally. Most people know ND for football.

So you are saying the actual acceptance rate is close to Northeastern's. Got it. Clearly acceptance rate is not indicative of quality of the school.

is this a total blindspot you have about ND specifically or all other schools that aren't the school you work for? ND is a top 20 school.

ND's class is more diverse geographically than Georgetown's, but nice try.
