No the assignment is what do women think about more often than you could ever imagine.

Shouldn’t it be what women think about far, far more than men can imagine?

One answer might be how to avoid sexual assault.

This. Personal safety, sexual harassment, sexual assault. How much of our mind space is devoted to these subjects and how much of our lives we adjust because of these concerns.

It is so ingrained we don’t even know we do it. Every time we are out there is a safety assessment. Women are meerkats.

Yes, I have a friend who sees potential rapists everywhere. She is constantly firing handymen, lawn people, and plumbers because she is afraid of them. They chit-chat and she thinks they are preparing to sexually assault her so she fires them.

Is that what meerkats do?

Sorry, you do not know history. I've studied this including original first hand writings by Diego de Landa. Mayan libraries filled with their books were also burned to the ground. Another reason there is way more info about the Roman empire.

Okay. But I'm not sure how you missed the extensive (pervasive) human sacrifice by both the Mayans (who were no longer a significant military power when the Spaniards arrived) and the Aztecs. The fear and worship of death.

I really don’t believe that a large number, let alone a majority, of men ruminate about the Roman Empire daily, weekly Or monthly. The Nicene Creed mentions Pontius Pilate but I suspect the few people who regularly attend Catholic, Episcopal/ Anglican and other denominations that cite the Nicene Creed in their liturgies are not inspired to ponder the implications.

If men are saying they do it is most likely to
Appear more thoughtful than they actually are.

I would imagine that similarly implausible historical eras or cultures that women could allege that they think about daily might be:

Ming Dynasty/ Chinese hey day
Ancient Israelites
Ancient Greece
Atlantis
Pocahontas
Trail of Tears
Pioneer women in the Wild West
Vikings
Russian Revolution
Dickens England/ Industrial Revolution

I’m all for lots of people thinking deeply about historical eras/ influences other than our own current realities but find it hard to believe that either men or women are routinely thinking about the same ones …

As a suburban mother of 2, I can tell you that the amount of time I think about this is virtually zero. At this stage of life, I'm no longer living in sketchy areas or hanging around with sketchy friends or doing sketchy things.

If you think about your personal safety so much, maybe you need to reevaluate where you are and what you are doing.

Really? I worry just as much about this as I ever did, especially as a mother, and especially now that I have two daughters in college. Part of raising them was teaching them about situational awareness and personal safety. My son gets those talks in addition to conversations about consent. It's odd to me that you think you now have the luxury to avoid this topic.
