This is a fun and interesting question OP…. PP was right that we are experiencing a generational humor gap … |
It is so ingrained we don’t even know we do it. Every time we are out there is a safety assessment. Women are meerkats. |
Yes, I have a friend who sees potential rapists everywhere. She is constantly firing handymen, lawn people, and plumbers because she is afraid of them. They chit-chat and she thinks they are preparing to sexually assault her so she fires them. Is that what meerkats do? |
OP here, lol, yes |
| For those who have said, kidnapping or personal safety, do you mean just prevention? Or also picturing scenarios and how you would handle them if they happened?! |
Or similar, calming egos at work or making sure everyone feels special and good. Or how to not look too aggressive but "lean in" and be assertive but not a witch. This is a lot of mental work, y'all. |

Funny TikToker said murder and I think I'm on board.
How to avoid being murdered. How we would successfully get away with murder. How we'd go about solving a murder. Watching True Crime docs on murder to relax.Podcasts on murder. Etc. |
| It used to be cryptozoology for me. But ever since I had a kid, my lack of leisure time extends to day dreams. |
That a really good one! |
NP chiming in to say how much I appreciate that this thread has a random sub-thread inside it where two people are vigorously debating, to the point of ad-hominem attacks, the characteristics of the ancient Mayans. Lol This kind of stuff is why I keep coming back to DCUM. |
Disagree with the bolded. All the guys I asked are not that deep. They just think “roads” “aqueducts” “pretzels” (apparently) “big conquests” “Senate” and Rome pops into their heads. Also football is basically modern day gladiators. |

I was going to say WW2 or the Plantagenets (really) but I forgot about my murder mystery/true crime obsessions.
50 year old woman and a history buff |
This. But not daily. |
| True crime. |
Really? I worry just as much about this as I ever did, especially as a mother, and especially now that I have two daughters in college. Part of raising them was teaching them about situational awareness and personal safety. My son gets those talks in addition to conversations about consent. It's odd to me that you think you now have the luxury to avoid this topic. |
