Feedback on True Va club lacrosse

The rosters change a lot- half the players each year are moved down or out if they have new talent trying to come in. These clubs are all following the same playbook. And the skills sessions they hype are really not worthwhile after a certain age and are just cheaper to run than team practices- less field time and less coaches to pay for.

Totally agree that True like all of the clubs are significantly better at acquiring talent vs. developing it. And of course it has to be that way as most clubs practice 2 times a week for about 4 months a year). Compare that to a highschool team that is practicing 4-5 a week for 5 months a year and has offseason workouts the rest of the year. The selling point for True is that you have good coaching, great fields for most NOVA players and great communication and organization. Of my 3 one did a couple of seasons with true and I thought it was the best deal if you could get past the fact that the teams were not elite

Next level does the same. A new player means they must play regardless of their relative skill. The club has to justify them making the team. It sucks.

VLC is a total disaster. None of those teams are going to get your kid recruited. True is the only non elite club that has a chance to make a difference recruiting wise.

I wouldn't boast about True Nova's recruiting ability until it gets a few kids to D1. It doesn't looks like it has a chance until maybe 3.5 years later with the 2029 team.

Don't necessarily disagree. This will be True NOVA's 3rd summer. It bought NOVA Select in the winter of 2020-21 and went to tournaments that summer (2021) as a True NOVA. At the HS level, most kids were just about locked in with their club teams at that point. You generally are not going to make a huge change at that point. It is the younger ages, where it is likely to change.

I think it will be something of a curve - 27s and 28s have a kid or two that have a possibility. But, yes, the 29s are Trues "real" first team comprised almost exclusively of non-NOVA Select kids. There are only 2 kids that I can think of that play on the 29 Black team and were at NOVA Select when it was bought by True. Whether that leads to D1 kids is to be determined.

That is true of about every club team. Some are more blatant than others. Go over to Back of the Cage...they talk all the time about fly ins (especially at the HS level) for ML, NL, etc.

True seasons fees went up 13% for 2024-2025 season. Are all the lax prices going up or is this even more than other teams?

Did VLC ever start a 28 team?

I think tryouts are this week. There are tryouts listed for a 28 team.

I don’t think they got enough kids to come out.

I am guessing people are still not willing to take a chance on the team falling apart like the 2022-2023 season.

It’s a money grab. They accept everyone, then have a B team and/or don’t play many players. The coaching was sub-par.

After having kids play on ML and NL and knowing VLCs pricing from friends it is still cheaper than those options by a pretty big margin.

Exactly. I think more kids came to the 34 tryout than the 28.
