Depends if your player wants equal playing time. Capital plays to develop all players - equal playing time for all. MD Teams don't follow the same thought process.

But in terms of recruiting, who has the edge or are they roughly the same?

Very close. Capital Blue 23 had a much better recruit class than M&D Black 23. Subsequent classes have been comparable from an ivy and lax strength perspective.

Not true, there are clubs in MD that have standard equal PT, can't speak for Hero's specifically.

M&D = Maryland & District

Now tell me how in your flawed logic why is there any discussions at all about capital players in a dc forum since that club is not actually based in DC but rather in VA.

Amazing: M&D parents thumb their nose at DMV lax, then quickly cite some archaic club name reference (which no one has used for years) to justify posting on these silly pages? You’re the definition of a double standard. You’re Double Standard Guy (DSG).

M&D shed that term years ago evidenced by the fact there is no mention of it anywhere on their website. But hey, you knew that.

You also know there are no DC-based girls lax club teams. So if that’s your standard no one would say anything here at all. Apparently you’ve never been here dummy? Ease up on the Old Bay. It’s a DMV site. Stay tough.

M&D Instagram: "Official Instagram account for M&D Lax, The Elite Girls Lacrosse Club in Maryland and the District of Columbia area."

Keep stretching, DSG. That’s an [outdated] marketing tagline not the name of the club. Please say you know the difference.

Give an example where the club currently defines its name as standing for “Maryland and District” as you originally had us believe. We’ll wait.

Question: If M&D thinks it’s an “elite” program of the DMV, why are there no DMV players on M&D Black 2025? Can’t be a talent issue as Capital has two top 20 commits from the DMV already.

M&D might want to update that tagline ..

Think hard. If you want M&D to be part of DMV, you’ll no longer be able to say you’re better than the DMV (which we know you love to do). So which is it? Can’t have it both ways, DSG.

Not sure who this is.... but why do you care? This is wo agressive. What did M&D do you to?

LOL keep thinking that!

So confused what the beef is? M&D, Heros, Skywalkers, Capital.... all great clubs that pull from the entire region. Why are you two arguing this?

Having had a DD play for Capital and get the opportunity to play in college, and watching her friends at other schools coming from other programs, like M&D, TLC, Pride, Hero's etc, I can safely say Capital does a great job. M&D pre-loss of Chris Robinson was a recruiting machine, but in the years after not so much. Gussie and her team really seem to go out of the way to have the hard talks with families which most clubs, boys and girls, want to avoid. Also, they press on the grade side more too, which helps if you're trying to use lax to get into a higher academic program. The other programs are fine for lax, but on the recruiting side at least going back to the last 5-6 year, Capital is by far ahead of the others in our region. Satisfied customer with the benefit of perspective.

CR and SR (who is in charge of recruiting for M&D) are still fully involved with M&D... as a parent at another MD Club, SR was very visible on the tournament circuit this summer.

If I lived in Howard County I would play for Hero’s or M&D. If I lived in Alexandria, I would play for Capital. Don’t think the results would be much different from a recruiting perspective.

This is obviously the right answer.

Would probably choose a Baltimore club if we lived in MoCo too. Just too hard to get there from NoVA.

And awesome that Capital has built the team and recruiting reputation up so there is a closer option.

I thought this was the 2025 commits page, not the stupid geographical pissing match page?

Capital splits practices at locations in MoCo and Alexandria to make it more convenient for DMV players to attend. Makes it much easier and evens transportation time for both MoCo and Va players.

It was until a cap parent got all but lt hurt when he realized that girls from other clubs also get to play in college and started complaining that other clubs commits were being put on here.

I feel like you might be new here?? Just a guess

That.... and clueless!

Yes I am. So can you answer the question now? Please and thank you. My daughter plays travel soccer but is only 10 so I'm trying to get smart if that's okay.

Sounds like a legit question so here is a legit response. Almost a decade ago, college coaches began accepting verbal commitments from players and announcing these verbal commitments at a younger and younger age. It was so out of control that lacrosse players in 8th grade were committed and by 9th grade many of the D1 slots were filled at top schools. The IWCLA and IMCLA (not NCAA) agreed to a set of rules where college coaches could not discuss offers until Sept 01 of the Junior year. Military academies could offer in July leading into the Junior year. It is now common that offers are made and top players are selected right after Sept. 01 and some calls are made at midnight. Typically a prospect sends club coaches transcripts of grades so that a likely academic match can be made. However, these verbal commitments are contingent upon maintaining the academics at the time of the offer. Offers have been pulled or students make other plans when grades and school do not align. For the most part the offers hold up. The key is that the school will likely hold that roster spot. However, nothing is binding until fall of Senior year when a prospective athlete signs a National Letter Of Intent. This is where you would see signing ceremonies and official acceptance to the school. I hope this helps.

Most college commitments, especially those for lacrosse, have nothing to do with NLI. That pertains to scholarships only. Anybody else doing that is doing so for theater. It's official when the admissions sends out the acceptance with the rest of the ED/EA/RD admits. You sound so authoritative and you don't really know what you're talking about.

The M&D commit to Yale is following her sister. The Yale coach definitely likes to keep it in the family. Every year she brings in a few younger sisters.
