2025 Girls Commits

M&D is a Baltimore club regardless of the "D" in their name. If you're good enough to play there and want to drive, go for it. Maryland clubs are superior in talent and volume (number of quality programs). Capital is the only program respected by Maryland people. These are facts.

The statement of fact stands: Michigan is a top 20 program. Yale is not. M&D prides itself on sending its players to top lacrosse programs, does it not?

Michigan is a good school but if my daughter could use lacrosse to get into Yale I’d feel like we won the lottery.

Stating the obvious here, but being good at lacrosse is not the only thing that matters at the HYPS.

Yes of course, and Yale has many multiples of qualified students so if you can use lacrosse as your hook to get in that’s fantastic. A degree from Yale will serve you well long after you’ve stopped playing lacrosse.

Balto and HoCo clubs don’t attract the best of the DMV anymore. That ship sailed years ago.

Assuming you survive 4 years in New Haven. A Michigan degree is pretty damn good too, by the way.

That's why 2 of the MVPs for All-America are DC/Visi girls that were on the Baltimore team... and play for M&D - after ditching Pride.

Years ago Capital’s committed 25 players to UNC and Michigan would have played for M&D because there was no other option in the DMV. Now they stay in DMV, play for Capital, and are headed to top 20 programs. Capital’s 24 and 23 impressive commit lists prove this too. It’s a new era for DMV lax players who are staying in DMV and heading to top lax and academic programs.

Capital is legit but that's one team. Some of those kids live south of DC too, even close to Richmond, which makes Hero's M&D a bit tough anyways.

What facts? The Baltimore clubs still attract the top talent of every class, that's the only fact that matters.

Would you go Heros or Capital?

Depends if your player wants equal playing time. Capital plays to develop all players - equal playing time for all. MD Teams don't follow the same thought process.

But in terms of recruiting, who has the edge or are they roughly the same?

The point you’re missing is that these players are exceptions and no longer the rule.

Such players are no longer representative of the only / best / strongest talent coming from the DMV.

Take a second look at that All America list you noted - the overwhelming majority from DMV played for Capital, Pride and VA Metro. Well over a dozen. You’re citing two players from DMV on M&D as if that’s all DMV has.

Also there is no MVP for All America

From Baltimore, yes.

From DMV, no.
