teachers seem to not have gotten the memo that everyone is replaceable. like, send your letter- it will not matter. those of us in the corporate world learned this at 25. |
There is a lot not understood by non educators on this board. |
LOL you sound really stupid. |
But PP is right. Floyd will be replaced and then quickly forgotten. There’s no need for some extended farewell tour. |
Had Dr. Floyd as a professor at Mason. Was always kind, understanding, professional, flexible, cool headed, and willing to offer guidance to students.
The irony of her essentially trying to send out a warning sign that the system is cracking because of the over bearing and unreasonable expectations of parents and for it be met here with basically “wow, so unprofessional” and “keep it to yourself”. Remember your responses here when you’re complaining about the millions of insignificant things that are apparently worthy of a thread and angry mob on this forum. Like seriously, do any of you ever just read the topics on this forum a d realize that you all are the broken parts of education? |
Lol y’all think she’s talking about the school board and central office… which is why she’s going to work at a central office for a school board.
Some of you work amazingly hard to not be introspective. No, no, you’re probably right, it couldn’t be that you’re the problem she probably actually is talking about the same people you hate. Yes! That’s it! |

I am for sure not part of the "heaviness" that Dr. Floyd will not miss because I've never complained to any of the schools we've attended, or the teachers there but my impression is that the level of "grace" from both parents and teachers has been on a steady decline since before the pandemic. The disdain is palpable, a probably all warranted but not at all constructive. We could all grade each other on a curve but each time we don't, it's another cut and the resentment grows. It's the kids who are losing and no one here -- not Dr. Floyd, not the parents, not the teachers -- are being part of the solution. The email probably felt good to write but it's one more step in the wrong direction. |
You still sound stupid. She gave two weeks notice and wrote an email and a note in the newsletter. Not exactly a farewell tour. |
It’s actually not the kids who will lose the most. But as a parent, you can’t see that. |
I'm confused. If it's not about the kids, who is this about? Are you saying the kids are coming out ahead but we should really be worried about . . . the teachers, the parents? I am confused as to how parents, and teachers, and administrators openly fighting about who sucks more is a good thing. If that is the thing I can't see, please educate me. To just say "You couldn't possibly understand because you are [INSERT WHOEVER YOU THINK SUCKS]" and then walk away in disdain underscores precisely my point. It is vague, and contemptuous, and proliferates the problem. And, that is what Dr. Floyd's email does. It calls for "grace" while throwing out vague contempt in all directions. Don't ask for grace if you can't summon it in yourself. |
She is replaceable. There are dozens of people in the principal pool looking to move up. There are 40 people who apply for AP jobs.
But most good teachers are not replaceable. Look at special Ed. |
+1. If she had the chance to get a pension from FCPS and a salary from another system, not surprising that she jumped. Don’t need long emails to make it seem like it was about anything other than money. |
Can't blame them. Who wants to be liable for 2500 kids? Especially in such a lawsuit-happy community. |
Wow! You really makes zero sense at all you’re just yelling and complaining to yell and complain. |
