That was a great letter. I guess the truth hurts. Some of you need to check yourself in the mirror. |
they wouldn't be fired~ we don't have teachers and admin to spare and parents these days need to hear these messages or the shortage will get worse. |
I could not agree more! |
ALL of THIS! Teachers too....the job is not good. A lot of people leaving and actively looking to leave. |
Yup. And they just do it. They leave and don’t need to explain it to anyone |
Lots of people "look" to leave their job. All industries. They look, they wish, and when faced with alternatives or no alternatives, they don't. Some do. Some spend a lot of time complaining.Time to stop thinking teaching is something different -- the rest of us face lots of stress too. |
+1, yep - she’s saying the parents are jerks. |
It is a different kind of stress. |
.... and/or, she's commenting on admin/Gatehouse and SBO. |
In that case, it's kind of funny that she's taking a Central Office position in a different district. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em I guess. |
It’s cringe, but it’s a product of the narcissism exemplified by the School Board and senior leadership. They constantly find a way to make everything about them, and not about the challenges FCPS is facing. That percolates down to staff, so we now get principals sharing these personal narratives to insulate themselves from any questions or criticisms.
She does have a point, which is that she’s leaving after having done the leg work over the spring and summer to get the new year off to a good start. That point could have been made simply, and once. No need to send this follow-up confessional. |
I think it's all of it....parents, SB, Gatehouse, behaviors |
A lot less stress and not dealing directly with parents who think they know it all. Educators are feeling like they hit a brick wall in every area of the job. Life and work balance is important! Good for her for making herself happy and not being guilted in staying one more year. |
Well some give one last ditch effort to wake people/parents up. But in this area it's a lost cause. Good for her, I hope she's happy! |
+1. This is not understood by the teachers who post on this board. |
