Honestly I wanted only boys and got two of them. I think it matters to some and not to others. I know some couples may wish for specific gender after their first - two girls or two boys etc. I know many of my friends wanted girls and I was in the minority when I said I really wanted boys.

Well I have two boys and i would have loved to have a girl (I lost two girls at birth). I don’t talk about it, but it doesn’t mean I don’t love my boys. It just means that i miss the mother/daughter experience I envisioned (my mom also died young). I don’t think you’re a better person if you don’t care what the genre is before a baby is before s/he is born.

I have a friend who had two boys and tried for a third kid. They didn't care about the gender and then they had twin boys! Now, with 4 boys, my friend has said she would have a 5th if she could be guaranteed a girl.
