C is equivalent of 4, F is equivalent of 3, and O is equivalent of 2, rarely is 1. |
Is this a dcurbanmom construction? if so, I vote to change it to be on a 160 scale like the NNAT/CoGat, so C = 40, etc... that way you can calculate a moment of all three scores... |
I know others have said this, but I want to echo: demonstrate his needs aren’t being met in general education. Explain that he is disruptive and unmotivated because he is bored and not being challenged. |
My Kid scores:
NNAT 160 CoGat 99 percentile GBRS: Unknown as of now and waiting. His grades are good: Most of the time very good. He is an active and creative thinker. Not sure what happened, my kid didn't get into Full time: is it worth appealing? Any suggestions? I might go for GMU WISC. WISC V is different than NNAT and COGAt? will kids do better? any suggestions on how to appeal strong. |
What was the COGAT score and subscores? |
I’m, you e answered your own question. |
ROFL |
This makes sense with his misbehaviors and classroom issues. He can test off the charts every year, but the GBRS is going to more accurately reflect the student. |
130 139 139 |
Has there ever been a GBRS with negative comments? I thought by default that the narrative was always positive or neutral/factual statements, but never negative. So I'm not sure OP can base anything on the comments. It's the score that matters. |
Reposting from the AAP Results thread, since I probably should have posted in the appeals thread:
NNAT 130 COGAT 125 GBRS 4 CO Fairfax HS Pyramid (Title 1 ES) 2nd Grade Result - NOT in We're trying to determine if we should appeal - we had the WISC done last weekend, so I think we'll let that guide us. My daughter is a perfectionist and that seems to be resulting in significant testing anxiety where she overthinks things. I've been wondering if that impacted her NNAT and COGAT scores. She really enjoyed the WISC, probably because she could talk through her reasoning. She's incredibly bright, fast learner, creative, crazy vocabulary, always inventing machines and games with complex rules, etc. She gets pulled out for Level II, and her AART and classroom teacher did a really thorough job on the GBRS, with lots of highly detailed examples for each component (rated Consistently Observed on each). I was hoping their assessment would carry more weight to account for the fact that some kids don't test well, but I suppose not. Thoughts? Are her scores just too low? |
DP. Several years ago, DS got a 2 in Motivation (accurate). Still got in first round. Low motivation isn't a reason to turn down a kid. |
Low motivation is not the same as hyper and disruptive. |
For our school, these are very low scores for AAP. Maybe have her retake the COGAT in the fall. Kids can retake 1 more time, Carol |
Certainly can be. There are a lot of ADHD kids in AAP. Really, a lot. If you think you're going to be getting away from them, you aren't. |
