No The powerful and well connected have ALWAYS done whatever they wanted. These "rules" were always for the masses. |
Not rude to tell my kids certain behaviors are tacky. |
Wait. What's wrong with the word "tacky"? |
Do you think there’s anything wrong with being classist? |
Explain why it's classist? Also that is what goes on here every day all day 24/7, 365. So I guess you can truthfully say DCUM is TACKY |
NP. Well, we've circled back to the first post of the thread. Tacky is not classist. It's the same as saying rude or cheap or gawdy. Rich people, poor people, and all in between can do things that are rude, cheap, or gawdy. The bigger question is: why is everyone always looking for offense via every little word? Uh-oh, is using "little" with regards to words classist as though only lower class people are forced to use words where rich people can use actions? It's silly. Stop trying to be an activist over everything. Just live your life to the best of your ability. |
No that’s not what it implies. It implies that the person either doesn’t know it’s inappropriate or knows and doesn’t care. Either way, completely devoid of manners and proper protocol. Some families still teach this but many don’t and yes they are tacky. |
You again? Please get back to your thesis. |
+1 Thank you |
If that were an accurate description of the definition of tacky, you would be right. The only problem is that you’re wrong. |
It’s racist against POC |
Really tacky should describe objects or behavior, but not people. |
Explain your position. Honestly, most people would agree with PP’s definition. What is yours? |
Taxidermy and zebra rugs are tacky but cowhide rugs are less tacky though still tacky. That's my two cent opinion and it's not class related. Tacky is subjective and that's OK, its not a bad word |
No, we are not all the same and we do not all have the same tastes. |
