I especially don't like people like Omeish, she is constantly in the news trying to raise her political profile, just do your damn job.

Next time, I am voting republican. So, done with this sh** show.

Sure. Because those folks aren't trying to drum up attention with charged statements about CRT and other nonsense /s

Over the years I have gone from being a Democrat to an independent. Smart people realize that crazy right-wing people drumming up a war over CRT and transgender bathrooms are really no different from Omeish. They are extremists that divide and prevent progress. School boards really need to focus on other issues.

I totally agree. But, part of the problem is that the current Board has brought out the extreme on the right because of their focus on "equity" and "gender." And, go back and look at the meetings when they were renaming schools. Not saying some did not need to be renamed, but lots of kids would have been much better served by focus on reading instruction and math.

Are you asserting the first priority of the school board should seriously be:

- academics?

No, she seems to be asserting that the school board can't walk and chew gum at the same time. It's not a false dichotomy. It's not either do this or do that they can and have done both

Do you not remember when they were keeping kids out of schools while they were working on name changes and TJ?
Perhaps having more of a focus on education rather than pet projects would have been wise. Now they have a lawsuit in their hands.

Any other ‘normal’ employees that f’ed up so immensely would be fired.

So, which of our members are running again? Do we know for sure that Omeish is running? I cannot imagine she would risk losing--that doesn't seem to suit her persona.

We know that Robyn Lady is running in Dranesville. Anyone else?
What about Sully?
Springfield?

Who is running for At large? Someone mentioned Moon. Maybe he could bring some sense back, but I'd like to see someone different, I really which it could be truly non-partisan.
Even the community participation is so partisan.

Who is Kyle McDaniel? He is also running for an at large seat now as is Moon.

We need to replace the current SB members. Good campaign slogan for the others can be “NOmeish.”

I quit voting in all national and local elections about 10 years ago. But I will show up to vote these morons out.

I'm assuming she's producing a free-association word salad, but with her default settings result in 'evil US imperialism means Imperial Japan is good'.

That video is a limited clip from Omeish's FCPS school board regular meeting board member comment section. Too bad the poster left out any on the FBI headquarters. The USA needed to secure Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Georgetown ids her as the first elected Libyan [assume country from which family immigrated]. "From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli" is from Marine deployments. 422-Hawaiins not interred and Omeish bizarrely equates conditions and results of any US internment to the industalized death factories in the Holocaust.

Not posted here or in the clipped video were further statements on a current event - the site choice for the relocation of the FBI headquarters. A Fairfax County, VA elected local official appears to be advocating for the FBI to not move to Fairfax County.

Comment section starting at 3::22:16 "there's a lot of history in February..sure that we're building better for the next generation." Segues into Arbery and then "this advocacy around where the next FBI headquarters is going to be" "experiences with law enforcement" Inclusivity, surveillance state etc.

All this tells me is she is even more stupid, unfocused on actual school issues, and potentially batsh * t crazy

Thanks for sharing this. I had not heard the "rest of the story" which also is puzzling and, maybe, egregious. Her post on Georgetown says that she is "Libyan." That says a lot to me. Even though she was born here, she considers herself Libyan? Not American?

The number of new candidates seeking Democratic endorsements for the at-large seats (and then quickly getting attention from sites like Blue Virginia that are unofficial mouthpieces for the FCDC) tells me the Democrats have decided Omeish is a political liability and that they want her gone.

If there are many candidates, does that not help Omeish if she brings her base to the committee meeting?

I'm still stunned and would love to know how she ever got into Yale.

She seems very much a Yaley, to me.

Of course when Omeish makes her comments she rarely provides such context because she’s been surrounded her entire life by people who think you get extra credit in class for criticizing American policy. It goes over well at Yale, but not so well in other places. She’s wildly out of touch with most people in the county and got lucky in 2019 due to the FCDC’s lax endorsement process and voters willing to vote for any candidate endorsed by the Democrats.

Meh. Monday morning quarter-backing. Second guessing wartime decisions well after the fact when all the in-situ unknowns are now well-known and documented, are a dime a dozen. And while they are good from a "lessons learned" perspective to better inform future combat decisions, they should be nothing more than that.

Are you kidding? Did you never hear of affirmative action?
