Yes, she’s trying to rebrand. We get that. Why did she align herself so closely with them? |
Jeff/Admin: Can you explain why posts in this thread keep getting deleted if they mention APE? |
Right. And then after VMPI was off the table, APE was continuing to push (outdated) GOP talking points about it. This was documented and discussed on DCUM and AEM. |
This is something I'm going to need to think about. I was really, really turned off by the behavior of some APE members, especially on AEM. I've also been really turned off by the behavior os some members of AEM. I get skeptical of "bipartisan grass-roots" as a description b/c of astroturfing, but we DO need bipartisan action to fix our schools and our county. It's tough. I read the recent newsletter and I do agree with some aspects, like soft-discipline has hurt our schools. I worked in an elementary school for years and witnessed first-hand how lack of consequences led to escalating bad behaviors. Not teaching and enforcing limits fails kids and fails society. I don't think anyone who tries to woo the ACDC is ever going to say that. So, maybe I will vote for Miranda. That's something I never would have said in the past. |
There is a post directly above yours that mentions APE that did not get deleted. Posts are not getting deleted for that reason. They are getting deleted for making false statements. |
Sounds like the type of stuff we need at Central office admin, not SB. |
So you admit the criticism of VPMI actually had some merit, you just object to the exact timing. |
This group, which a SB candidate led for years, was an open schools group in Arlington. They were abusive online and in school board meetings. Some of their most aggressive, vocal members were anti-maskers, anti-CRT, pro-voucher. They were aligned with open schools groups out in FCPS and LCPS. Including Ian Prior, PDE (Koch bro), etc. |
No, they misrepresented VMPI. |
Could you link the newsletter with the misrepresentation? |
What is VMPI? |
I really hope the normal lurkers on this page are not buying these defamatory lies. Literally none of this true. It'd be laughable if we we're living in an era of mis-information and conspiracy theory uptake. Please do your own research and look into this group, read their newsletters, and explore their website. I know some of them personally and they are all very active in their school communities and closely aligned with many APS teachers. There are a few deranged trolls on this page (likely the same people making the same outlandish claims on AEM) that are obsessed and continue to spread lies. They make accusation with no evidence or links. They associate people who have long been kicked out of APE if they went against their values and mission as being "leaders." It's disturbing. |
You can look up their newsletters. I believe they are on their website. Early in the VMPI process, there were questions about whether VMPI would affect the availability of advanced/acceleration. VMPI clarified that they weren’t going to change that - schools districts could offer whatever courses and accelerate however they’d like. That wasn’t changing. That didn’t stop the GOP from running with the same talking points about VMPI threatening advanced math. Several months later, right before the gubernatorial election, APE throws out the same talking points in one of their newsletters. “What about advanced math?!” So, they weren’t paying attention and/or deliberately were pushing misinformation during an election. Recycling outdated GOP talking points isn’t a good look. |
Ok. Who was on the steering committee in 2021? Who was MT’s campaign manager? |
This is really really really offensive. To say APE - which has an EXTREMELY public website and biweekly newsletter - is anti-CRT or pro-voucher or supported by Koch brothers or Ian Prior is complete lies. You shouldn't be allowed to defame like this on a public website. Show us ANY proof of anti-CRT or pro-voucher or supported by Koch or aligned with Ian Prior. Literally anything. Here's an idea - some people thought kids should be in school sooner than you did, apparently. That doesn't make them bigots. APE website: www.arlingtonparentsforeducation.org |
