FL is difficult for Florida residents to get into. Many end up attending community college first and then transferring into FL. |
UGA is on par with UVA |
No |
Wait how is this a bad thing? Aren't internationals full pay? |
GT is only good at engineering and some STEM. UVA is better for almost everything else. |
OP, there’s a show on CNN about the Murdocks and Lafittes in South Carolina. These are the circles you’re talking about. |
GT doesn’t offer “everything else” and they are better at everything they do offer. UVA is a great school but no one can seriously claim that it’s “better than GT.” They are different kinds of schools and GT is one of the best at what they do. |
Sorry- wrong thread. |
It compensates for lower interest from domestic students. |
My cousins daughter (GA resident) was accepted to Emory with a scholarship but waitlisted at UGA. Do with that information what you will. Because of UGAs football team this year being #1 as silly as it sounds is going to be very competitive to get into UGA. |
That’s only because she’s a GA resident and everyone in Georgia wants to attend in-state schools because it’s free. Emory is not. Also Emory is considered more of a grad school for Georgia residents and is not a place that your average HS grad wants to attend. It’s jokingly called “long island university of Atlanta.” I attended a large HS with grads going to schools all over the country. I don’t know anyone who went to Emory for undergrad. |
It's even harder to be admitted to Georgia OOS. |
Umm yes FL is hard to get into for FL residents but it is also hard to get into OOS. They do love DMV kids but still difficult. Last year OOS admission was mid 20’s and this year likely to be under 20% and high average SATs—no test optional. The think about UF is if you want to go, there are several pathways, including community college and summer admissions, etc but straight Fall admission is very competitive to get in. |
GT is what it is, and it is better than UVA in almost all significant shared fields of study. |
You think internationals students would know more about Emory than domestics? This logic sounds very flawed to me. Seems obvious Emory just wants more full pay students. |
