Of course. And will if you want. But they are all “real” cops. |
Mall cops and SROs are real too. |
Are planes jails? Bet you take a plane to go on vacation. |
Some argue that if more kids and teachers were armed, we'd be even safer. I know back when I was a kid lots of kids brought guns to school for the rifle club and it wasn't a big deal. |
Agree, have to wonder why the far right wants to make public education into kid prison. |
Mall cops are not real cops, but SROs are. The ones in the mall are security officers who have not been to a police academy and are not certified through the state LEO agency. SROs have the same basic qualifications as any uniformed police officer with MCPD but additional training on top to work with youth in a school setting. I don’t know why people are struggling with this concept. It’s also a special program that officers need to apply for, so there is a self selecting aspect — it tends to attract the officers who are interested in youth and community policing, building relationships, etc., not the tough guys or the ones who are looking for the splashy high profile arrests. It also attracts a lot of officers with kids because the hours are fairly family friendly (although then you don’t get the shift diff for working nights.) |
| I guess we really need to go back to zoom school. No kids in the building, no kids getting shot in the building. |
