Do you think it’s worth it to spend on “if you know you know” handbags over $1-2k?

Only true of one certain American subculture that happens to dominate this board.

I still dream about a handbag I saw on the arm of a woman in front of me coming out of Farragut West. I don’t even remember much about it, although the little I can remember was an almost old fashioned Launer-type bag. At the time I thought maybe Valextra but it was before online retail really took off (and it’s not like I, as a $300/mo stipended intern could have bought it anyway). Such a perfect handbag. Wherever you are, classy handbag lady, I salute you.

I come from a working class background. My father was a shoe repairman. I remember a time when shoes were made in Brazil or Italy. My father absolutely hated cheap handbags and shoes. I see the value in a quality leather good, which when taken care of, can be repaired. I tried taking my leather shoes to a shoe repair shop once, and the woman was so rude to me. The heel on the shoe could have easily been repaired and replaced. It was one of the those shoe repair/dry cleaners/alterations shops. LoL.

Does anyone own the Chloe Judy bag? The leather looks so lush.

Such a profound waste of money. No one, literally no one, cares about your handbag. This is just so ignorant.

I think you should spend the money on educational classes - cooking, real estate, cyber security, PMP exam, medical coding, etc etc etc.
Get a life.

Do what makes you happy. If you can afford it (no debt, not sacrificing other things such has food, rent, mortgage, etc), go for it.

Not all these bags look amazing, luxurious, beautiful, unique, or price-appropriate (meaning, while well-made- they were made way less than a couple hundred- you don't need to overpay into thousands or beyond). So seriously, if you think they look great, buy them. If you don't, opt for something cheaper. It's not that deep.

There is one specific vintage bag I collect and I'm not doing it to make money or retain value. I honestly find it beautiful and worth the cost. I don't even often wear them- but my closet looks GREAT. Other than that bag style, I only have a few different brands- cheaper (bought on travel) or more expensive. But I realized that I really only wanted to collect/commit to that one style of bag and that makes me happy. Others would think it's nuts. Seriously, do what you like.
