Do you think it’s worth it to spend on “if you know you know” handbags over $1-2k?

Or do you prefer well known brands that are recognizable by everyone like Louis Vuitton or Chanel over Mulberry and Celine?

I greatly prefer brands like Loewe or BV that aren’t as obvious. I’m also loving the Fendi peekaboo these days. I’m buying a nice handbag that I love and feels like a luxury to me. I don’t want/need to advertise it to everyone who sees it.

Absolutely not.

Neither.

Totally depends on your social circle. Private elementary / middle school, maybe. Everywhere else, not unless it’s for you and you just love it (not as a status symbol).

It's only worth it if you love the bag. I fell in love with Mulberry nearly 15 years ago, before they had as large of a presence and recognizability in the US. I carried my Mulberries and loved them. Still do. They were/are worth the money to me because I love the craftsmanship. They were also "worth it" in the sense that because of the great materials and craftsmanship, they've lasted way longer than any fast fashion bag would have. I carry my bags for me, not so they can be recognized by some stranger.

I prefer Mulberry (all my bags are Mulberry, Smythson, Il Bisonte, or no visible label high end), would not be caught dead with Dior, LV, YSL, Gucci, Prada (which is made in China FYI). I also like if-you-know more medium brands like Mage, Strathberry, Welden.

Same. They are classics. I’ve had mine for >7 years and I have ones I bought in the end of year sale 2 & 5 yrs ago and haven’t even worn yet. They will always be in style. My only complains about them is the bottoms are too wide on some models. I think I will break down and get the Lily this year finally.

DCUM is the absolute worst about this. They dump on bags that are nice with subtle branding because any branding is too much for them then recommend ugly unfashionable crap.

The only thing you know is that you might be pretty gullible to fall for marketing ploys. And really dumb(?)

Target. 25 bucks. No one cares.

LOL. Buy whatever you want. If you think DCUM recommends ugly crap, why bother reading these types of posts. Are you seeking validation or something?

I prefer quality and function over looks and brand names.

I find obvious bags to be gauche/try hard. It reminds me of kids wearing “Abercrombie” all over their clothes back in middle school. That being said, but what you like.

Look, I like Mulberry fine, but this whole post is so absurd. You think this is an under-the-radar IYKYK brand?! Anyone with any fashion awareness knows the Bayswater is a version of the LV Neverfull “first bag you buy when you can afford a nice bag” bag.

Not true. Some people seem to care too much about name brands.

Most Target bags are crap. But I did buy a Target bag like 25 years ago that I still have. It's a great bag that I take with me whenever I travel.
