| Montgomery County Public Schools, including the MCPS Virtual Academy, will open two hours late Thurs, Dec. 15 due to anticipated emergency weather conditions. Bus service will be provided on a two-hour-delayed schedule. |

Virtual is a lot harder to pull off than parents realize.
The less privileged schools have many kids who are unable to participate in virtual either because of poor wifi or home responsibilities. Teachers need to keep all the kids within a certain range of content otherwise teaching becomes impossible so it is hard for them to teach new or meaningful content when 1/3 of the kids might not be there. Overall it is a lot of effort for little gain. |
