What I would like to see is the distribution of family income. The black daughter of a Goldman Sachs managing director who has an MBA from Harvard is not some kind of hard luck story or someone who is going to bring a "unique" perspective to the classroom. She's just another rich girl like the white daughters of Goldman Sachs managing directors. |

Thx for the Defund the Police article. Yes, NyC ceased the stop & frisk policing years ago and crime went up markedly. Oh well. |
Education? Pre NCLB and Common Core American society? I agree with everything Michelle Obama wrote in her book on south side chicago boom years and then deterioration. That said, every region has its pain points each decade so lumping them together to the point where only one squeaky wheel gets the grease is bad. Is it chicago mafia or civil rights or abortion or k-13 education or Geo politics or energy/power Gen or the economy, etc. It’s amazing this country gets anything done it has so many demands on it. |
| I respect schools doing this. |
Thx for completely changing the subject. So you're saying that the experience of racial profiling doesn't exist for those who are rich? |
Yes. It seems rather telling that no one has an answer to “what will taking these classes or writing these essays actually do?” It’s just more virtue signaling without an actual purpose. |
| Lowell asks prospective families to review their DEI position, and to address how that fits into their family values. |
There are a lot of ADHD and spectrum kids in my children's (different) rigorous high schools. There were even more in our k-8. I think schools know how many children they can accommodate and if you're waiting to apply until HS, sometimes those spots are full with kids that have been their longer. |
+1 She is not the same as similarly situated white girls. |
sounds like church to me |
It is like a new religion of the woke |
You changed the subject to racial profiling. And yes I hate racial profiling. But I hate the lack of education, children out of wedlock rate, and high crime rate is certain segments of society — that I look like outwardly- too. Humans will always do pattern recognition for survival or their jobs. Unless told to not do their jobs. If 70% of crimes are committed by a segment of Purple People, what do you want the 30% law abiding segment of Purple People do? But no worries, no politician in all of America is going to touch the negative subcultures of some segments. So here we are, doing more DEI. |
| And guess what the beauty of DEI and affirmative action really is? It mainly benefits the 30% of law abiding purple people. |
| Not the underlying SES or values problem. |
