She was probably very taken by his "normalcy" and good character. But, perhaps she ultimately found that he wasn't at her intelligence level or he wasn't sufficiently "polished" or comfortable in MacKenzie's social circles.

I can see why a "decent guy" would be attractive when rebounding from Bezos. But, maybe he just didn't bring enough to the relationship over time.
