Yep, there are tons of people that equate antifa and BLM with groups like the Proud Boys. Very few of them live in Montgomery County. |
So what? Same issue - you think Elrich is bad. That doesn't mean Sully is good. |
I looked at his website and I agree with his campaign priorities so he will get my vote. Don't care that he is R. |
| Sully is going to lose so bad, I love it. |
+1 I’m a moderate, but vote Democrat 80-90% of the time. Sullivan has my support. Elrich has proven to be bad for the county, and I would rather shake things up with some fresh ideas. There will still be a progressive council. I’ve seen Sullivan’s website and, while I’m not thrilled with the CRT reference, I like what I see elsewhere. I want somebody to address crime, and I know Elrich won’t do that. |
What is Sully's plan to address crime? Spoiler alert! He doesn't have one. All he does is complain about how terrible a job the incumbents have done. |
What’s Elrich’s plan? |
I refer you to his page: https://www.reardonsullivanformoco.com/issues/public-safety We can assume that he is against Elrich’s “Reimagining Public Safety” recommendation of cutting MCPD staffing in Silver Spring and Wheaton by 50%. His references to supporting MCPD, especially in recruitment since the current council’s nonsense has decimated the department, are also compelling. It’s refreshing, actually, to see a Montgomery County page that doesn’t contain info about addressing crime by cutting officers. |
Once again, you can't justify voting for Sully based on Elrich's shortcomings. You don't like Elrich? Fine, don't vote for him. But don't pretend that Sully is a competent alternative. He's not. |
Meh. He will lose, but he might get more support than the usual Republican. Hogan lost to Jealous in MoCo but he still got over 40%. Sullivan might get close to Hogan numbers at best but thats still a loss by 10 points. DCUM is not representative. In 2018, pretty much everyone on here supported Floreen and Hogan. They both lost (in MoCo) considerably. |
So he's against everything Elrich has done. What does that mean, specifically? He doesn't say what he is in favor of. |
I love how you are deflecting. What is Elrich’s plan? Crime is up under his administration. What is he going to do to bring it down? |
Happy to help here: https://montgomerycountymd.gov/rps/Resources/Files/reports/rps-task-force-recommendations-report.pdf Page 23: “Move to fully ( or expanded) automated traffic enforcement through expansion of speed and intersection camera programs, and reduce FTE sworn officer positions across MCPD districts in proportion to the amount of officer time currently spent on in-person traffic enforcement by sworn officers.” Page 25: “Reduce sworn officer FTEs in police Districts 3 and 4 by 50 % to reduce patrol officer contact with residents in these districts.” Page 26: “Direct MCPD to treat all offenses in the “Crimes Against Society” segment, except for weapons violations, as the lowest department priority. When enforcement of these offenses does take place, MCPD should be directed to issue citations instead of making arrests.” Page 34: “Conduct a risk assessment of police activities to determine when it is necessary for officers to carry a gun.” This is why Sullivan is appealing. Without balance, this is where we head. |
I just posted from the task force findings. I’ve read that whole report and, frankly, I find it appalling. This is how Elrich plans to address rising crime. I don’t need Sullivan to say any more than he is against that plan. |
Lol nice try. Go-ahead, vote for Sully, clearly that is what you want. He will.llse so badly because he has no real platform apart from being anti everything. |
