Elrich vs Sullivan

Wait til next summer, after Marylanders foolishly vote to legalize marijuana. Violent crime will go through the roof. Almost all the street violence is marijuana related. You will create a larger market and the illegal market will increase too, because it will be cheaper, and people under 21 will still be buying illegally.

And nobody here will arrest or prosecute for it.

Like the current alcohol and cigarette market? All the street gangs peddling Chardonnay and Marlboros?

Go ahead and laugh. It will be black and brown people dying. So I'm sure the white cannabis afficionados will not care.

I’m a DP. Where are the ridiculous scare tactics? Simply highlighting increasing crime in the county isn’t a scare tactic.

You want to know what I think is scary? Elrich’s desire to cut policing by 50% due to some erroneous belief that fewer police interactions will mean less crime.

The rise in crime has nothing to do with legalization of alcohol or cigarettes. It has many causes, including less enforcement and fewer prosecutions.

And you think legalizing pot will bring less crime. Okay you. Keep frying what little brain you have.

Then we agree. It’s time to vote Elrich out so we can reverse the less enforcement / fewer prosecutions trend popular with the current Exec and council.

Those are not scare tactics. Neither is the mcpd report.

Exactly! The ridiculous scare tactics here were about crime related to marijuana legalization, not rising crime in general, which is a problem. I don’t think anyone in this discussion thinks Elrich has done a good job on crime.

Agree, but it doesn’t mean we should keep Elrich

There is no way in hell I'll vote for Elrich.

There is also no way in hell Sullivan will win.

So I'll either vote Sullivan, a 3rd party, or skip the County Executive race. Leaning Sullivan.

Me and DH are Dems; we are voting for Sully.

I think he'll easily get 30 to 35% of the vote this year.
