Elrich vs Sullivan

I think a chunk of Blair voters would vote for him.

We can only hope.

Dem here. What is so shady about it? If we’re playing “the lesser of two evils,” Sullivan wins in my book. My favorite candidate in the Democratic primaries lost, and so I’m going with my plan B.

I believe its astroturfing by the Sullivan campaign and MD GOP. No way this many Dems are voting for him.

I’m the PP. We are a two-Dem household and we are both supporting Sullivan. We will choose a moderate Republican over a Democrat who has proven to be ineffective. There are many people who voted against Elrich in the primaries with the hope of a stronger Democrat candidate. We didn’t get it.

I don’t think Sullivan will win, but I do think he’ll get a notable amount of Democratic votes. Hopefully that will send a message, at least.

I think you are vastly overestimating the number of people who think like you. Sully has very little name recognition in a county where most voters who want to "send a message" are planning to vote straight blue tickets.

PP here. I already acknowledged that Sullivan will lose. I think he’ll get a higher amount of Democratic votes than usual for Montgomery County, however. There are plenty of people who want to see Elrich gone. He only received 30-40% of the votes in the primary, and many votes for Riemer and Blair were really anti-Elrich votes.

You should know Sullivan issued a condemnation of Jan 6 on Jan 6. He is not an insurrectionist. If he was, I would not be supporting him. Signed, the former Elrich ‘18 campaign worker from upstream

I read your post. I will repeat, I think you are vastly overestimating the number of people who think like you. Think about all the DCUM posters who claimed they would vote for the anti-boundary study candidates in 2020. Many more than the handful posting here about Sully. They all lost, by a fair amount. There was a lot of discussion and knowledge about those candidates, much more so than about Sully.

DCUM was all in for Nancy Floreen in 2018. And she got the Washington Post endorsement. She got 19% of the vote.

If unaffiliated voters actually get out there to vote, then yes. A slim chance. The problem isn't lack of support, per se. It's just that few people actually go out to vote. Especially upcounty.

Still disagree. I think people are waking up to the damage that Elrich is doing. It’s very clear to many doing business or living in this county that crime is up. I’ve been a victim of it. It’s also clear to anyone who opens a local paper that we are losing business to neighboring counties. If people open more eyes, Sullivan will get more votes. Sure, Elrich will still win, but I don’t think it will be a usual landslide.

I would have voted for Floreen but was worried she would split the vote so much that Ficker could win. So I held my nose and voted for Elrich. There is no similar concern this time. My vote easily goes to Sully.
