What non political controversial position do you hold?

I think putting the "D" in front of the "S, D, H, W" is sooooo stupid. Just say son, kid, spouse etc

White boomer women in America are some of the rudest people on the planet.

But don’t most psych meds cause weight gain?

I was thinking mostly about working to improve self-esteem, body acceptance, exercise for mental health rather than weight loss, mindfulness, etc. But yeah, many mood stabilizers do cause weight gain and people shouldn’t use that as a reason not to take them.

A hot dog is a sandwich. (So is a taco.)

Birkenstocks are the best shoes.

Mayo belongs nowhere on a burger. It belongs in cool summer salads, potato, macaroni, chicken etc. And just a bit on a BLT.

+1,000,000

Same- that review makes that winery my new favorite.

The Star Wars franchise is mediocre at best.

Possums do so much more to benefit our ecosystem, but people are skeeved out by them because of the tail. We need more possums and fewer squirrels.

I think the American college system, with the emphasis on athletics and extracurriculars for college admissions, and portfolios instead of test scores, is a lot of nonsense. We should do it the way many European countries do it and go strictly by grades and test scores. Fewer people should be going to college, and there should be better job skill training for those who don't.

I don't think European athletes belong anywhere on US college teams.

I don't totally disagree but golf takes the number one spot for me. Better in person than on TV but either way, five minutes and I am done!

It’s drivel, I get it’s enjoyable but so is the Internet. People use it to escape just like reading the internet.

Any argument you can make for reading non-fiction you can say the same about surfing the net.

People who get their ego from grammar and spelling are the same people that are having a heart attack reading my opinion.

You first point confuses me. Are you somehow confused about the definitions of fiction and non-fiction?

Good grief.. ENOUGH of this

That isn't just controversial, it's so ignorant. I have ADHD. Damn, I wished I had been diagnosed in my youth and gotten proper treatment. My life is night/day with treatment.

I think adhd is a normal variation on behavior that helped propel society forward (someone had to be the dreamers and the doers!). But now schools want to medicate it instead of adapting the school environment to help kids succeed. (Not that medication is bad, but why should it be the first thing teachers and admins say needs to be done, instead of having special Ed classrooms adapted to adhd kids?)

NP - I’m an adult who was diagnosed with ADD at the age of 35 and taking medication absolutely turned my life around. I have a relatively high IQ, but barely graduated high school because I just could NOT focus no matter how much I wanted to, or tried to. My parents were great - my problems were caused by a NEUROLOGICAL disorder, not them.

I can’t imagine how much worse my life would’ve been if I’d been separated from my friends and put in a special Ed class. You’re thoughtless and cruel to think that would be a better option than taking one pill a day.

Obesity is largely systemic and genetics; not the moral failing of the obese person. If a skinny person can eat whatever they want and still be thin and have it attributed to good genes, then why is it so hard to believe an obese person can eat well, exercise and still be overweight due to bad genes?

Most of the people who have bad sex after marriage were having pre-marital sex with their partners before marriage. They either accepted the bad sex, or their partners changed after marriage and kids.

I think there should be no pre-marital sex or any sexual contact before marriage with any one. In cultures where premarital sex is taboo...most people are happy to marry because they can then start having sex at last. Most of the times, the early sexual deprivation makes them very appreciative and desirous of continuing to have sex after marriages.

No sex, bad sex, mismatched libido is a problem of a permissive culture where premarital sex is accepted and encouraged. As a result, people may have slept with many people, may have had many relationships before marriage and then they continue to wonder why they fail so spectacularly in their marriage/marriages. 50% divorce rate is a symptom of this sickness.

Just an FYI. A close friend of mine is from a community where premarital sex is taboo. She is also a therapist and has many female clients from that community. It's absolutely not true that there are no issues with marital sex in those couples. The issues may be somewhat different, but it doesn't mean they don't exist.

I feel like this too but I hate the word “husband” for some reason and sometimes I need to specify gender.

And what irrationally irks me to no end is when professionals in tennis or golf live here in the U.S., train here, even grow up here, etc. and then compete for another country. Go live there, then.
