Joftus should have a record to run on by now, but the problem is that, despite joining the board at a time that was ripe for him to step up as a leader to rebuild trust and right the ship during the catastrophe that was MCPS this winter, he only has "a vision". He's done very little to provide effective oversight and accountability to MCPS during his tenure, based on his behavior at BOE meetings where he largely nods his head and provides thanks and praise to MCPS staff for wonderful presentations (maybe with a "it would be nice if you showed us x next time on this slide" sprinkled in). We need folks on the Board who will actually do something, and lead, not just talk the talk and rubber stamp whatever comes to them from MCPS and the staff.
