Which ES has a good principal?

Dr. Karin Wade at Travilah Elementary is a standout star. We were so happy with our previous principal and sad when she left but couldn't have gotten a better successor. Dr. Wade communicates, she has kept the school open and placed the students and the teachers at the forefront of everything, and she runs a tight ship. She is amazing and I am not the only one to think so! An incredible educator and administrator and the school and community are lucky to have her.

I had Josh Fine as an instructor for some professional development classes, and he really is so committed to students and families. I'm sure he's an amazing principal.

He is great. So glad he got a principal job.

Ironically I was about to post that the new Barnsley principal is wonderful, compared to the simply terrible former one -- who just happens to be the new RP principal being praised above.

We called him the used car salesman while at Barnsley. Not a fan

Mrs. Katie West was just selected this week to be the permanent principal at Bayard Rustin Elementary. She's been the Acting Principal, and has been with the school since it first opened a few years ago as Vice Principal and Principal Intern. (The original principal left at the end of last year to take a position with the central office).

We've been happy with her. Granted, we haven't had to navigate any specific situations, but we've found her friendly, accessible, and responsive. She's at all the PTA meetings and events, sends out a lengthy weekly newsletter, and has been quick to get additional staff to handle an influx of new students over the course of the year.

Hope your kid doesn't have a problem with a bully. Or a teacher who can't control the classroom. Because she has proven incapable of handling situations like these. Depends. Central office also yanks the underperforming ones, and ones who make big mistakes.
