Yes, I've never met anyone who didn't absolutely love that school. But it's been popular for a long time - definitely not a "fad school."

I stand corrected. It is not a fad school, just one I’d never heard of even though I grew up in MoCo in the 80’s. Yes a long time ago…

Oh, well that's normal. I grew up in Fairfax during the 80s and had never heard of most MD colleges until my own kids were in high school.

Grinnell elite?

Grinnell tied @ 13 with Davidson on USNWR list and higher if you strike West Point and the Naval Academy from the list. Admit rate of 19%. Endowment is $2 bil and is #11 on list of endowment/student.

Last year the RD acceptance rate was 10.5%.

Tulane begs to differ with you.

It's been around since 1894

It's been up and down and up and down - just like all the rest of them, over a more than 100 year period. You have no clue what you're talking about. haha.

hahaha. wrong. why so defensive? Do you understand what 'trending' means?

Tulane is newly very, very trendy among the full pay private school set. How you know: all of the middle-low GDS and Sidwell kids go there. None of their parents went to Tulane. None of their parents' friends went to Tulane, nor does anybody on their block of NWDCbethesdaCCMDPotomac. You see, their parents all went to places like Northwestern and Cornell and Penn -- but now their similar kids can't get into Northwestern et al. So those middleish affluent kids need new targets.

Enter Tulane, Wisconsin OOS, Pitt, Santa Clara, Northeastern, Vermont, Clemson. But especially, Tulane.

LOL, you don't get invited out a lot b/c I know plenty on those NWdCCCCCMPotomac blocks who went to Tulane.

I went to Tulane in the 90s and I was definitely in good company as a Jew from New Jersey. Not many WASPs back then, I don't think, so maybe part of the NWDCbethesdaCCMDPotomac set this doesn't apply to, but I think anyone who thinks Tulane is some school newly being discovered by rich people from up north is mistaken.

Yessssss!!!

For the win!!!!!!

When I was at a Fairfax Co HS in the 80s--a big number of people went there. I have never heard it on anyone's college list in the last decade.

Radford was the Christopher Newport of the 80s. It was popular among kids then.

I was one of those FXCO HS at Radford in the late 1980s. Here’s the thing; it was my (and most everyone else’s) safety school or the only state college that would admit us. Radford ended up being a placeholder of sorts with many transfers by sophomore year to Tech, then large number of drop-outs. I make a point to emphasize that I *graduated* from Radford in four years. Lots of people say they “went” to Radford (then transferred or dropped out).

Curious where you’re from, PP? Not NJ/NYC suburbs, certainly not a Virginian?

MoCo. I heard of it for the first time when a friend’s niece went there (also in MoCo), she is about 25 now. Still in MoCo and my own DD was admitted there a few weeks ago, and now since she didn’t get into MD we will go check it out!
