I am struggling to understand how anyone would be okay with not following a rule that protects the interests of others.
|
How do you know? Some college share this information. |
| Maryland EA decision approaching and parents are understandably anxious. Pretty sure that eventual EDs not withdrawing will not matter in the bigger scheme of things. |
Share what? Up to date withdrawals on 100k applications they receive? |
+100! If student did indeed get in ED, not cool. My DC got in somewhere ED and was SO curious about how applications would do at other schools because hard work went into all of them, I get that. DC withdrew all applications because 1) that is what they agreed to do and 2) they would never want to hurt other's, especially friends', chances! Good grief, is it that hard to not be self-centered? Oh wait...

Share the list of students that applied ED. |
+200 My child also got in ED and withdrew other applications. |
Some of the college portals have a "Withdraw Application" button. |
It is harming the chances of fellow classmates into the same school. The school counselor needs to handle this. |
| Absolutely disgusting. What happened to the Golden Rule? |
So you're upset that someone smarter than your kid won't step aside? What would you have done if this kid had not EDed? |
NP here, if they had not EDed then it would be totally different. When you ED and enroll somewhere you commit to withdraw other applications. |

Same here. My DC wanted to see if they got into one of his EAs - more of a stretch so did not ED - and DC would have gone if they did. But DC told us college counselor reminded about needing to pull the EA apps, so did so. One school made it impossible to do! |
| The contract you sign when you apply is clear and binding. Schools have withdrawn ED acceptances and students have been left with 0 admittances. |
