How do you drink coffee at home?

We have a MoccaMaster and a Baratza grinder.

I make 6 cups and just heat up tomorrow's portion in the microwave. Some people may think that's gross but whatever. Works for me.

Is this a joke? Coffee doesn't contain cholesterol.

Interesting you say this..I’m 30s, good weight, exercise, don’t eat much sugar, alcohol or animal fat yet have cholesterol in the 190s. So not too high, but something to keep an eye on trend. I also drink 3 cups of French press coffee daily

You know, I'm 30s, good weight and exercise and got my first ever high cholesterol reading recently, andnI've been making French press coffee at home since the start of the pandemic. Make I should switch to doing pour overs.

The article says it could be a problem if you drink 5-8 cups of coffee a day. That’s a lot of coffee!

I've used everything from fancy DeLonghi countertop espresso machines to moka pots to French presses to pods and everything in between. My current preference? Drumroll, please....

Instant coffee!

Yes my friends, the instant coffee market has improved significantly since the days of Nescafe and Folgers being the only options. You can now get a pretty damn good cup of coffee without the hassle of brewing. In addition to making my mornings faster, I never have to worry about the coffee situation when I travel.

My current fave is Cafe Bustelo Instant Espresso combined with oat milk to make a latte that rivals any $6 concoction I'd get from a coffeeshop. When I'm feeling fancy, I jazz it up with a pinch of Trader Joe's chai latte powder to make a dirty chai latte, or a dab of caramel sauce to make a caramel macchiato. Delicious. I'd never thought I'd be an instant coffee convert, yet here I am. Don't knock it till you try it.

PP here that also reported this (mid 40s, LDL jumped to almost 120, etc....). I don't drink that much coffee and my LDL still jumped. I have also read that the effect of increasing cholesterol is only about 10% or so, when clearly my increase was higher than that. I don't have any other explanation than the French press unfiltered coffee (well, other than lab error, I suppose).

Keep in mind though that 6oz is considered a standard cup of coffee. I'm looking at "normal sized" modern mugs that hold more than 2 cups at a time. You have to of those cups and you're already into 5 cup territory.
