She is a... well, Charles wanted to be her tampon.

I admire her for taking a backseat, not seeking the limelight and paying her dues with her charity work, unlike the Meghan Markles of the world. She’s never complained publicly and has always been supportive of the BRF, even though they treated her like a second-class citizen for years and didn’t consider her good enough to be a marriage prospect for Charles. She held her head high despite being one of the most despised woman in the world. You’ve got to admire her for that, if nothing else.

Uhm she was married, then he got married and they continue pd their affair. Any extenuating circumstances are irrelevant.

How and why?

He was an environmentalist before it was cool, he's done some good work. But he's also a selfish little brat in his private life.

When I think of dedicated environmentalists, people who travel frequently by private jet and live in multiple large homes are the first group that comes to mind.

Yeah, and he has luxury to eat the finest and freshest foods.

They were in love before Diana came along though. I'm sure you would be mad at your husband for marrying you when he was in love with another woman. She's not innocent but I wouldn't blame her as much.

I have to agree. The Royals have a completely different set of “rules “that they have to abide by. Charles and Camilla were always in love. Diana was an arranged marriage. I really don’t understand why people think it was some love story between Charles and Diana.

I don’t think Diana thought it was an arranged marriage. Things would be so different if that had been explained to her before engagement.

Camilla is not to blame for that.

in fact, didn't she actually tell Diana that it was an arranged marriage and Diana was like" how dare you you old hag, I'm young and beautiful" but camilla was just trying to warn her.

I'm neutral on her. The whole situation was incredibly messed up and the result of Charles and Diana being trapped by life circumstances beyond their control based on incredibly old-fashioned strictures that applied to no one else on the planet and should have died off in the early 19th century. And in fact did start dying off shortly after Charles and Diana became trapped by them. Under literally any other circumstances, they would never have married. And they were both emotionally messed up by those same strictures. It was never going to be anything other than what it was. This stuff has always gone on, it's just we know more about it now with the state of the media. George IV, for example, was totally debauched. Camilla was just a side show.

I pity Charles, honestly. Money doesn't buy happiness. He has his houses and his Aston Martins and whatever but those are ornaments on a life of basically aimless waiting. 73 years worth of loitering. He's older than most reigning European monarchs and is still waiting. There's a photo of him with the Spanish royals on Mallorca in the '80s, almost 40 years old and sitting near a teenaged Prince Felipe. Well, Felipe VI has been on the throne for 8 years now and Charles is still waiting. Same deal with Willem-Alexander. That must be really galling.

I’m not even trying to be mean. I just can’t figure out what her deal is. She’s kind of like Charles’s randomly placed old lady friend.

While this will sound like I hate her, I really feel about the same as you.

She is the luckiest slut and adulterer in the United Kingdom.

It takes two to tango. She could have kept her relationship with Charles non-romantic or distant, but she chose not to. I blame her for that.

I hate cheaters.

And man are those 2 ugly. It’s a good thing they never procreated.

Then you must surely hate Diana? She had her dalliances with married men too.

I’m not a big fan of the Queen in general. Having lived through the entire saga today now I think that the Queen should never have prevented Charles from marrying Camilla. He’s a weird kind of guy and her machinations only made s bad situation worse. Charles would have been better off with a steady person like Camilla all along. The Queens ridiculous choosing a 19 year old bride for her 35 year old son was bound to cause the trouble it did.

Compared to some of the others in that family, she and Charles seem tame. They keep their heads down and fulfill their duties and don't cause too much trouble (anymore). Honestly, had he been "allowed", this would have made both of them happy all along. They seem very much in love and just happy to be in one another's presence. I don't think Charles even wants to be king. All he ever really wanted was to just be with her. It's romantic in a weird, twisted way.

I tend to think there’s either something wrong with Charles or something wrong with Queen Elizabeth. She treats him like dirt making him sit on the sidelines while she celebrates her 75th “Jubilee”. There’s a time to step aside.

All else aside, I think Charles is besotted with her and always has been. She's luckier than most of us will ever be.
