No, you don’t shoot it up, but it is a gateway drug to opioids / heroin. |
| MD and MOCO huge capacity problems would make it impossible for a non-smoker to live there |
And teens now use butane and lighters to free-base THC - incredibly dangerous and addicting: https://www.addictions.com/marijuana/dabs-what-is-dabbing-and-is-it-dangerous/ |
While marijuana remains federally illegal, these businesses still have to deal in cash because they can't accept credit cards (can't use bank accounts). So yeah, there will still be violence at dispensaries. |

Read this; we should TOTALLY legalize marijuana!!
Adverse Long-Term Effects of Marijuana Use If you dab or smoke marijuana regularly, you may end up with some negative lasting effects, such as:4 Marijuana addiction Stunted brain development Negative impact on academic progress, usually dropping out of school Cognitive impairment and lower IQ Chronic cough or bronchitis Depression and lack of life satisfaction Dependence and Addiction According to the 2012 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, around 2.7 million people 12 years of age and older met the DSM-IV criteria for dependence on marijuana, and 5.1 million people met the criteria for dependence on any illicit drug.4,5 Research also shows that 9% of overall marijuana users will develop an addiction, 17% of those who start in adolescence, and 25-50% of those who are daily users. It is unknown yet how dangerous dabbing is compared to other types of cannabis use, but dabbing weed poses other health risks. Isn’t this what you want for your children? |
A lot of things that are legal aren’t good for us. Cigarettes, alcohol, sugar, certain jobs….the question is whether they should be legal or not. If you don’t want your kids to partake, teach them not to. It will still be illegal for anyone under 18 or 21 to consume or possess marijuana. |
LOL. Do you seriously think that deters kids under 21? Legalization absolutely increases use and availability by minors. |
Smoking and alcohol cause far more damage and death than marijuana, yet they are legal and nobody is railing about those. Legalizing marijuana doesn't mean legalizing it for children. Is smoking and alcohol legal for children? No. |
So Maryland legalizing recreational sale would increase these types of crimes in MD unless the Federal government acts? I think that’s a pretty strong argument against Maryland doing anything until the Federal government changes Federal law. |
1) Smoking has caused untold lung cancer deaths and 2) alcohol kills hundreds of thousand in drunken diving deaths every year. So your argument is: let’s add to both body counts by making a smoked intoxicant universally available? Maybe you should leave Maryland alone, and do us all a favor by just moving to Colorado. |
Yes it will deter a lot of kids under 21 who still live at home and have parents who care whether or not they break the law. I guess you're a "cool mom" who says "they'll do it in college, I'd rather you do it at home!" Just because you can't get your kids to not break the law doesn't mean that me, a 40 year old woman with a good job, shouldn't decide to smoke a joint before watching Jackass on the couch. |
If I understand correctly, the pro-legalization person is arguing that the law is effective at preventing access to weed? Is that right? |
DP. If anyone actually believes that . . . OMG I don’t know what to tell you. |
