Why hasn’t Maryland legalized marijuana yet?

DC is stinky? Sorry but DC is not a good example because its laws got broken by Congress before they could be fully implemented. You can't exactly walk into a store and buy edibles in DC.

Most of the people I know in places like Colorado and elsewhere that it's fully legalized either go for edibles (no smell) or can purchase good quality weed that doesn't smell like it was smuggled in a sweaty migrant's underwear and then stored under dead skunk carcasses for 2 years.

It’s a dumb argument. Anyone that’s been to California or Washington state in the last couple years can attest that access to edibles does not decrease the stink.

Why would people who don't use pot suddenly turn into stoners once it's legal? Clearly, it being illegal hasn't been a deterrent at all.

That’s not what investors think.

The great thing about our area is that three jurisdictions affords one a lot of choice. You can buy marijuana at a grey market store in DC today. Retail sales will start in VA in 2024 and if you have a medical condition you can purchase it in MD. Lots of choices.

Investors think the legal market will be worth investing in because it will cannibalize the existing black market. You don't need a lot of people to start newly using marijuana for marijuana to be a good investment if it's legal.

Pretty sure “best for society” is not people stoned all the time. Go out to Seattle or LA. It’s sad to see so many people waste their lives on the streets and high. We have enough issues in MD and neither want nor need that here.

Yup, definitely all the people living on the streets in Seattle and Los Angeles are (a) only using marijuana, not harder drugs and (b) only on the streets because they smoke weed.

There have been several cases of death in the past few weeks due to altercations between user and sellers, as well as kids bringing it to school imagine how much worse if this is legal un MD. I can imagine people driving while high.
