Why hasn’t Maryland legalized marijuana yet?

Anonymous
RED STATES have legalized it.

Yes, I know Maryland has a Republican Governor and isn’t the most progressive of all blue states, but marijuana legalization is hardly a radical position anymore. It’s uncharacteristically reactionary to be against it. So what’s the hold up? Who actually opposes legalization in Annapolis?

I can't stand potheads. I can't get on a public transit system or in a ride-share car without the entire car/bus stinking because of one person who smells like a lit up tree. Its disgusting.

I hear it's not hard to get a medical marijuana card.

Agree. It’s no different than being around someone who smells of alcohol or cigarette smoke.

When it’s purchased legally there are more non-smoking options for consumption

All of DC stinks to high-hell.

And now most of NOVA stinks during high school lunch hour, and every weekend. Plus the people doing 45mph on the beltway are getting to be a serous nuisance.

Don’t make the same mistake, MD!

Me either. My deadbeat neighbors sit on their porch and smoke the nastiest, cheapest weed they can find. I tell them to go inside because it’s gross and they’re so high they can’t manage the steps. I hate them. I also judge them to be a complete drain on society.

COMPLETELY AGREE!!! NEVER LEGALIZE POT IN MARYLAND. IT WILL DISTROY OUR WAY OF LIFE! I hate going to NYC now because, not only does it wreak of urine and trash, now it also wreaks of pot. I will vote against its legalization.

My neighbors in MoCo certainly think it's legal here. I smell weed smoke everyday from up the block.

The current status is fine.

It’s available and people can get it rather easily. No need for the added nuisance that further legalization will bring.

I smell it enough here as it is. Was at Pike & Rose a few weeks ago and the stairwell in the garage reeked. It was very, very nasty and I was with my kid.

Weed makes you stupid. Period.

It’s totally disgusting. I hate it too. Can the government do something to prevent drug use but also not penalize them with jail time? Is there no other solution? I don’t want a society of pot heads & addicts.

I’m in the same boat. In favor of decriminalization but not in favor of full legalization.
