Most nannies already have those days off, PP, plus two weeks. Who the hell are you working for!

I’ve never known a nanny who didn’t have those days off either. Plus PTO and vacation.

I think the haunting fat troll is back.

I’ve had it “off” once, but as a live-in away from my family, I couldn’t use it. I’ve worked at least part of all holidays for every other family, and everything except Christmas for that family.

So you make the choice to work on Christmas - that’s cool. The vast majority of nannies have it off.

Even as a live-in nanny, you can demand your days off, PP.

No, I work for people who don’t have the luxury of having the whole day off, who choose to volunteer and help others (and can’t take their kids along), and who have enough going on with their families descending like locusts that they need my help with their children while they handle everyone else. I don’t “choose” to work holidays, I’m needed, and my families compensate me accordingly.

What a truly stupid gift. Maybe scrape up used chewing gum and give to her. More M.O.N.E.Y. so she can get what she wants!

Now that would make sense.

HBOmax. A year’s subscription is a great gift for anyone.

For someone who watches the and movies, sure. That’s not me, and I think I’m an anyone.
you're clearly not since you've dissed every suggestion on this thread. must be miserable to be you. ask Santa for a new personality--or at least a more pleasant attitude.

Good lord. It’s great to volunteer, but if you’re a parent you should try to spend Xmas with your kids.

They take 2-4 hours to volunteer. Their kids are taught to give time, money and effort, and they still enjoy Christmas with their parents.

It would be good for the children to see that the nanny has time off on Christmas to see her friends and family, too.

They leave their kids on Christmas Day to go “volunteer?” Yikes.

I think it’s a really sad statement that the nanny spends Christmas at your house.

But as far as gifts, how about tickets to the symphony?

Why do you think it’s sad? Our nanny and her family come over every Christmas. Nanny’s boys are older and love to watch my little ones open gifts and play. For the last three years we’ve had a big brunch together.

+1. Our nanny always spends Christmas morning with us and then takes off to spend the next week with friends in Santa Barbara. (We’re in Los Angeles). It’s joyful and loving and my kids are thrilled!
