like you’re not making your own favorable inferences? come on. |
he's mr. president king so his interpretation is facts |
What am I inferring? I think this quote speaks for itself:
If anyone has trouble understanding that, they should consult a dictionary. Other posters feel a need to interpret it. I don't. |
| So what does the WTU need to negotiate? How quickly the anti-vaxxers get fired? Whether they get a severance? |
Probably yes to both |
I hope the answers are "quickly" and "absolutely not." |
| What are the grounds for the suit in NYC? Why would a teachers union go to court to block having vaccinated adults in schools to protect ineligible students? |
There are some procedural issues that could have been negotiated that aren't necessarily barriers -- for example, are teachers and other staff terminated on November 1 if they haven't provided proof of full vaccination? Or is it like NY where teachers who refuse vaccination can take unpaid leave for a year? Negotiating how the mandate is implemented is not necessarily the same as opposing it. |
because they have anti-vax members. |
Except UFT in NY opposed the mandate, period. |
here’s the opinion lifting the TRO. The teachers union was arguing the mandate violated their due proces. https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=/SjAZEyrJ2_PLUS_NcbHKYidJ3w==&system=prod |
How does that work for hiring replacements? That doesn’t seem like a way to run schools, given we are talking about a shortage of teachers all over. We only temporarily hire the teachers willing to get vaccinated in a pandemic? Barf. |

From Perry Stein today, in WaPo:
75% of DCPS staff has reported vaccine status. Based on that at least 68% of staff is vaccinated. Vaccines were available to school staff teaching in person in FEBRUARY last year. They have been available to the general public since May. It is unconscionable that 1) this number is not higher and 2) DCPS does not have any information about 25% of DCPS staff's vax status. |
Good thing that there's a vaccine mandate, then. |
| Well, they already have a "vax or test" mandate and they don't know the vaccination status of 25% of staff, so forgive me if I don't feel like the new mandate is a silver bullet. |
