Regular sports have been going on this entire time. My kids’ club sports (soccer and lacrosse) had small social distant practices in spring 2020 and were back to games and tournaments in summer of 2020. Private schools had sports all year last year. I don’t recall any massive team outbreaks, etc. |
| As long as the religious exemption is in play, this mandate means nothing. I am a supervisor in one of the institutions covered here, and the holdouts are all turning in letters stating sincere religious objections to the vaccine based on fetal cells + their body is God’s temple. |
| How are they going to prove vaccination, particularly for students? |
Those can and should be challenged. Did you get other vaccines? You’re fired. |
Plus no fetal cell lines were were used to produce or manufacture the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. |
We need to do this: https://www.kark.com/news/health/coronavirus/arkansas-hospital-lets-staff-seek-vaccine-exemption-as-long-as-they-dont-use-other-meds-tested-on-fetal-cell-lines/ |
Announcement said they’re leaving it up to the school level. I imagine the athletics director will collect when they collect the athletic package for each athlete to clear before tryouts. |
Yes, my kid has been playing outside sports since last year. This is his last chance to play his sport for his public school which is what I meant. |
| And sports teams were travelling all spring and summer on buses while other activities were either virtual or cancelled altogether. |
isn't it ironic: the activities that do not need proof of vaccination now were cancelled the activities that now need proof of vaccination to participate were not things that make you go Hmmm |
Not following your "hmmm" train. Please explain. |

This was probably assumed by most of us but just to make clear, according to this page:
https://coronavirus.dc.gov/release/mayor-bowser-announces-covid-19-vaccination-requirements-all-adults-regularly-schools-and The new mandate has "exemptions for religious or medical reasons". |
There’s not millions of dollars in youth ballet nor is there college scholarships on the line. Still not following your point. The point being made above is that everyone should be vaccinated to participate in extracurriculars, do you not agree? |
Those exemptions are required by law, but the religious exemption must be a sincerely held religious belief and there are ZERO major world religions that ban vaccinations. Those exemptions should absolutely be challenged and people should be fired. That is an easily winnable court case and it has been tested before, so there is lots of precedent. |
Unvaccinated teachers being out because of exposure/illness and kids having to quarantine because of unvaccinated teachers would be even more disruptive. |
