DD just got a merit award from Pitt! 20k/year.

Congrats! Can you give us a rough idea of stats?

Thanks! 1510 and 3.972/4.452. Average ECs. Engineering.

Are you an under represented minority? I only ask because our DS with 1460 and 4.0/4.7 and great ECs only got $5 and we were frankly disappointed.

Lol. Yeah it's their race, not the 50 points higher on the SAT. 🙄 Terrible.

I know...the obsession with URM on this board is exhausting.

My DC applied to School of Mines back in August. PP’s here said to expect a decision by Nov. 1. Now the website is listing a notification date of Dec. 21. Annoying! DC’s friend got into ASU in September. I kind of wanted DC to have an early non-binding acceptance under their belt as a confidence booster.

Is 50 points really the difference between $5K and $20K - that's ridiculous. Then again, I think ACTs and SATs are ridiculous measuring sticks - you answer a few more questions right and it gets you tons more aid, etc.

There are only half as many kids with a 1510+ as with a 1460+, so, yeah, if it's a measurement you care about (and Pitt seems to), there's a big difference between a 1510 and a 1460.

You're post = no one wants to hear from. Because you're a dick. Lots of wasted effort where you're concerned, apparently.
